Icon11 Sapphire caseback for DateJust

Thomas Preik is still making nice casebacks!

I love the look of the movements and hate to hide them!!

Nicely done Seth

Good to know he’s still in business.

Does the caseback add any thickness to the watch?

I would say yes but it’s negligible

TBH, the Rolex movement looks cheap.

Job well done for sure. Just no reason to have an open caseback on that movement

I'm glad you enjoy it. It's not my cup of tea. Rolex movements are workhorses. Now Patek movements on the other hand...

Glad you like it!

it's not for me, personally, I think it kinda gives off the vibe that the watch is fake.

I must say though, if Rolex started to put a bit more into the aesthetics of their movements I wouldn't be averse to seeing more exhibition casebacks in the future!

Perhaps going forward they do this more. Cotes de Geneve finishing, a little anglage and perhaps prettier rotating weights is all it needs.

I disagree. It is somewhat decorated but in general I love looking at the amazing things inside that humans have designed. The intrinsic ingenuity is where the beauty resides. I get lost looking at a movement the same as I do looking at great artwork.

I love me some Rolex, but comparing that movement to great artwork is a stretch. IMO

Why not!!! As long as water resistance integrity is maintained... looks great! Nice to have something to look at other than a sterile brushed steel caseback ;)

I like it. Plus as a bonus, it’ll be a lot more comfortable to wear due to the much flatter case back.

Measurements on my 16710 GMT II with OEM caseback and Priek sapphire display caseback.

Total thickness from Crystal flat surface to caseback flat surface:

OEM: 12.36 mm
Preik: 12.58 mm

Net Difference: 0.22 mm

Personally, I can't tell the difference when wearing the watch.

It's weird being the same age as old people.
