Should this watch have a laser etched crown? 16570 D serial
Hope everybody is doing well,
Am I going insane or should a black dial (2005? maybe 06) 16570 have a laser etched crown at 6? I read online and a lot of people say it should but i have looked in every lighting condition available from the sun to flashlights over the dial and I cannot find it, I used a loupe and phone camera zoomed in and couldn't see it either. Im not sure if its a 2005 or 2006 16570 but I believe it's a 2005, online says D serial can be 2006. It has no holes case, "Swiss made" dial text, bracelet/clasp says 78790a, MA10, papers date of purchase is in 2006, gmt wiggles(3185 movement) Appreciate any insight, -Jay. |

Welcome to the forum.
Yes it should have a laser etched crown near the 6 o'clock marker. On my 16600 it slightly to the right of the marker and close to the edge of the crystal. Try using a handheld magnifier to locate it. |

Laser etched crowns have been used since 2001, so it’s there. You just haven’t found it yet. It took me three days to find it on my first watch, and 2 days on the second. On both of mine, concentrating on the Renault area at 6:00 was the key. Both were a bit off center. You will find it. Once you do, it’s still hard to find it again.

Didn’t they gradually introduce the LEC as old stock was depleted, making it hard to answer the OP question?

But it was phased in so that by ~2001 all the line was consistent.

I could not find it at all after some days and ended up asking a good friend of mine that's a local watchmaker who said pretty much the same thing that there are some that just don't have it because they were gradually put in 2000 or so and that on some models they didn't come in till later, but thanks to everyone who chimed in

D serial? Edit: Yes you're D serial.
You shouldn't have one. Nothing to worry about.

Put your iPhone torch light on the side of your crystal.

Perhaps I’m recalling incorrectly. I thought that some D serial had them and some did not. But after D (thinking it was M?) they all had them.
