Steel Skydweller or Yacht-Master 42 in white gold

Totally different watches, I know. What they have in common is the 42mm diameter, which is my sweet spot.
I’ve tried on numerous Skydwellers and like the look and fit. Been to a number of AD’s and have not been able to see the 42 YM in the flesh. Closest was a 40mm on OysterFlex. I’ve always liked many things about the “Submariner style” Rolex’s and have owned many, but never a YM. I’ve always liked the YM bezels and think it would have what I like about a Sub but not be the “normal” Sub look that I’m tired of.
I know the answer is buy the one that I like best, but I like them both a lot. Not sure about an OysterFlex bracelet but consensus is it’s very comfortable. I’ve owned many Rolexes over the years but this would be the only Rolex, for now, in my small collection.
I’m old, tall and have a 7.25” wrist.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Skydweller on Jubilee! It’s a cooler watch, with an extra complication.

The Sky Dweller is a real 42mm watch whereas the YM has a smaller dial with a big knobbly bezel. I'll take a Sky Dweller over just about anything. It's a clever watch which is made all the more clever by its simplicity of operation.

However, I can't tell you what you like. With two such different watches I would have thought one had at least a nose ahead.

Skydweller will hopefully be my next watch with a bit of luck, so it’s got my vote. Also, tall and old :-)

I have the Skydweller and want the 42mm yachtmaster but I’d never trade my blue Skydweller for it. Hope this helps.

Black Sky jubilee for me. 42mm is the sweet spot for sure. 8’ wrist. I do like the YM42, but wears smaller and flatter. If there was a bracelet option, I would consider white gold as really like the polished bits. Haven’t seen the Ti in the flesh, and not sure if I could get from AD with my spend history, but still think SkyD is a more fun watch.

Both are great watches, but as a YM 42 owner I say go with it. It's a really FINE piece! It wears so nice with it's broad but thin profile. Wears much nicer in my opinion than the Skydweller. The oysterflex is great and is balanced really nicely with the heft of the case and clasp. It's awesome!!

If you’re old and your eyesight is increasingly becoming an issue, I’d say go for the yacht master. It’s easier to read.

Own both. Truth be told, YM42 is a lot more comfortable, but I naturally love the complications on the SkyD.

If I had to pick one, sky on jubilee for the win.

Skydweller is the clear winner for me.
I prefer the look, unique complication and I'll always choose full bracelet over strap (personal preference).

The Sky-Dweller on Jubilee for me and I have owned the YM42 in WG several times. I would do either the black or white dial SD and save quite a bit and have a technically more interesting watch. I just can not get use to a PM on rubber. Does not work as well for me.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I’m not an Explorer fan. A little too tool watch and I prefer not to have a separate hand for the GMT function.

You'll be able to tell the time more easily on the YM, if that helps.

But...seriously. You couldn't have picked two more different time pieces. They each have their own vibe and you just have to figure which one is yours. Good luck,

Flip a coin. Can’t go wrong with either.

If i had to choose btwn the two id go with the ym2. As much as i love the SkyD, it is just too thick and blingy for every day wear for me whereas the ym2 id wear to more occasions.

Steel Skydweller or Yacht-Master 42 in white gold

YM is used more often to time steaks grilling on the barby than starting a Regatta.

If the SkyDiddy is needed for dual TZ duty, then it's the one.

But since it can't used to grill steaks - and if you have no need for dual TZ - then the YM...

But what if I’d hardly, if ever, use the dual TZ and have cooked enough steaks to go by feel or cheat and use a Meater device?
