don't go for it. the ADs like to pretend scarcity.

it is hard for me to say because i am not a fan of the current PP non-sports collection and i have difficulties finding a watch there which i like. possibly 5930P...or 5270P if that is in the realm of the possible.

I'm in the same boat. I like watches with more wrist presence (hence APs) and find the majority of Pateks boring. The 5224r looks and fits great, has nice weight, thickness and overall wrist presence. But no way buying that retail with an immediate $25K loss unless my SA bundles it with a 5990 or similar

I've been offered the 5524 before by an AD that is new to me. My only purchase had been straps for my Calatrava.

You are right about the immediate drop in value as you walk out the door.

3 crowns look screwy in my opinion.

Tastes vary, but I actually like the asymmetry of the 5224, adds some needed character to an otherwise ordinary design IMO. AD has texted me about it twice since Monday, time to give them the bad news

Seems like you mean 5524 (pilot with the pushers on the left) rather than 5224 which is a completely different and rather symmetric watch...

Hi, I am looking at a 6007G and was wondering why are people selling them BNIB below retail. Why buy them and pay sales tax to turn around and sell below your cost. Looking for information before pulling the trigger.

Solely to continue getting spend up at an AD and built history for better pieces at retail down the road.

No sales tax if sold to a grey dealer.

I was also offered a 5524 this week by an AD that in the past would not even set up a meeting for me with their Patek specialist

Actually it kinda shocks me how much under retail these go for. Now it’s in the low 30s already. Patek is also brutal with their pricing on these. I can’t believe that they doubled down on them with a new model recently 5924

Have been offered 6119r and g, 5205r, 4947 and others in the past few months. Like them all, but not top of my list.

Good idea!
They can message me every 6 months and I will tell them demand for me and my time is so high, but that they should try again in a few months or offer me a better reference.

It's not the prettiest watch I've ever seen...

Where I live the 5524 were readily available through the hype. Except for the limited 5522A the pilots were never huge crowd favorites. The market is even worse for the high-end 5520P pilot alarm. EWC have one for just above 130k (and dropping...). Who is paying north of 270k at their AD?

Indeed not. And you can see that in their used values. But the world would be a dull place if we all liked the same things, and for people that like the vintage pilot aesthetic, care not a hoot that Patek doesn't have particular heritage in pilots watches and likes the GMT function they are a superb "nearly new" / "previously cherished" (LOL... all the sales euphemisms) watch.

I saw the 5520P at EWC as well, attractive pricing but then again so many other refs I'd rather get. Same here they doubed down on the two tone 5520 this year, which is crazy to me.

That’s true the 5522 is an interesting and well loved piece. Its greatness is only exceeded by its amazingness.

Some say, wearing it can provide good luck for a period of 55.22 hours.

Many others are saying that it can make the wearer feel full if they’re hungry.

If I had the scratch I'd go for the 5520 in a heartbeat despite it looking like a tick

4947-1/a....I have smaller wrists as well, tried it on at the AD and fell in love. also on the plus side since its not a hype piece they are readily available on grey/secondary for well under retail. and its stainless steel.

I'd try to get a 5230P w/o a doubt. One of the most beautiful Pateks released in the past decade IMO. It was just discontinued after a short 2y production run. Hopeful your AD could still source one as I saw one in the shop window at a local AD only weeks ago.

I tried on the 5396G a few weeks ago and was shocked at how much better it looked in person compared to online. Thought the blues really popped.
