Thanks to everyone that contributed to this thread. I picked up a Christmas gift to myself in early December (126710BLNR…couldn’t have been more surprised after a 9month wait) and don’t usually see midnight. With it being New Year’s and all, I was excited to watch it change date at midnight but alas, it did not happen. Then 1…2…3..4 minutes past and nothing. Just before 5 minutes after it flipped. I was concerned to say the least but appreciate hearing this is normal. I will see how my DJ (3235 movement) and Sub (3135 movement) handle the date change for giggles but for now, am appreciative of another day and this being the only “major problem” headed into 2024.

My Sub, a 16610, from 2003, changes the date at 4 minutes and about 10 seconds after midnight. Only varies about a second or two from day to day. and of course, changes instantly. Its been instructive reading these posts and seeing that my watch is within specs. Thanks to all who have shared their experiences.

Cannot see why as long as date as changed by morning when you wake up and you can see its changed now thats far more important. As it proves you are still alive and enjoy wearing your Rolex watch for another day or decades to come in good health..

Its surely going to be down to how closely you set the time also? When you pull the crown and the seconds stop say at 30 seconds. You have to allign the minutes hand as close as you can to between the 2 minutes. I presume the date changes using the minute hand and not the seconds hand. So its a case of watching the minutes hand strike midnight. The seconds hand is to how close you set it. Any comments.
Just bought a submariner after selling one 20 years ago due to lack of funds. Ive finally got another although its 20 years newer |

The official tolerance for after sales with modern calibers is -1, +2 minutes after midnight. On the 15xx movements this is a little less stringent.

Tap the case with your finger at exactly midnight and the date will change.

Just picked up my first Rolex (and 1st watch. Other than my Apple Watch) and I noticed that at 00:04 it clicks over to the next day.
