Rolex 6536 Price Check

Hi all,

I'm negotiating on this 6536/1 at the moment.

It has service hands and the dial has been relumed, bezel is a service replacement as well it seems?

What is a fair price on this?

Thanks

They are quite rare -
I do not own but wanted to provide you a legitimate response - I texted My 2 vintage dealers and they say $30,000 (poor condition) to $150,000+ (superb condition)…….

Appreciate the response mate, thanks for the advice.

With vintage rolex, you have a 'value' which is almost always notional until someone is willing to pay it, and what something is actually worth.

This 6536 is just so far gone from how it was originally made, that the buyer pool is almost empty - I would struggle to buy this if it was priced at 10000 australian dollars. It (to me) has very few redeeming features, for example if it had those service parts but the case was mint and it had papers - well you can do something with that - but as it sits I can't see anything.

I saw a much nicer 6536 for sale on Facebook for around 75k AUD from a dealer - that's where I'd put my money if the 6536 was on the menu.

Thanks for the input mate - tbh I'm sitting in a similar position. A friend has offered it to me but even at the price I've negotiated I don't know if it's a wise purchase

Difficult from one straight on photo, but I have slight reservations that the dial is even a Rolex, let alone it’s reluming - the fonts, spacings, chapter ring circumference, hr plot positions look bit odd.

This watch has a lot of problems. Hands are wrong, insert might be legit (or not) but it's not the right time. Which takes a huge, tremendous hit on value.

I think the dial is a repaint, and not even a good one. Serious reservations on this watch, need much better photos, and want engravings as well.

What’s your endgame here? To wear it as-is, and keep it for the rest of your life? If you plan on restoring it to era-correct components, it’s going to cost you a small fortune. If you keep it as-is, you know that selling it could likely be a losing proposition. That is, original parts will become rarer and rarer. I guess I just don’t see why you’d want to even buy it to begin with.

If case and movement are original, and insert is actually Rolex (but just newer) and the dial is really just relumed and not refinished .. . .maybe $8,500.

I wouldn't pay a penny for it, unless you're going to part it out. The soul of this watch is gone.

Agree with others above. I would not purchase this example at any price.

Thanks all, I was on the fence even at what seemed like a fair price so I think I'm going to sit it out.

11k AUD - haven't been able to inspect so it would be based off those photos only

Buy it with the condition that it needs to be authenticated by Rolex or a local watchmaker who has worked on Rolex watches (especially vintage watches) before money is paid out…
Also, find out the costs to rehab this watch - it may cost more than the watch itself….
GOOD LUCK!
