New 5396G 2024

Strongly contemplating picking this up as an everyday dress watch.

Had my eye on an AC for awhile now and even the baguette markers are attractive to my eye.

Can anyone provide their thoughts on this model?

Someone posted a picture of this precise reference recently (https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...24460&page=533), it looked indeed fantastic, like a 5170P cousin. Definitely worth considering (I didn't see it in the metal).

I have tried it on as I was contemplating taking it from our AD. It’s a stunning watch from dial to baguettes. I’m partial to blue in general and this one is beautiful.

I did end up choosing the 5396r however just from a fit perspective in terms of my collection.
Good luck with your decision

I think this is a nice one but it has tooooo many versions which undermined its exclusivity

It looks really nice with baguettes. Subtle, but they're there.

It’s very nice. The diamonds are quite subtle.

I was just on the Patek site admiring this piece and have been contemplating buying it. Very appealing.

I love this new reference, my personal favorite of the PP 2024 novelties.

Last year I was able to try the predecessors of this watch: 5396G-011 and 5396R-015. Both excellent watches, where I particularly admired the dial layout: it remains calm and clear, despite the annual calendar.

In the end I did not pull the trigger, one of my main gripes were the weekday and month appertures, which are very small. I had a hard time reading them and really needed to strain my eyes, even with glasses. A clear sign that I am getting old!

I got to try this on today at our local AD and in person it blew away my expectations compared to how it shows online. The chnaging of the vibrant and deep blues, really nice piece.

Curious if anyone has pulled the trigger on this one or had the chance to view one in person. How practical a wearer is this with the baguette’s on the dial?

I was torn between this and the RG version. Wore it at the AD for about 20 minutes going back and forth. The baguettes are truly understated (in a good way) and the blue is gorgeous. I did go with the /R but would have no problem pulling the trigger on this if that’s what they offered.

I agree that the aperture are on the small side as is the whole watch at around 38mm. I ended up buying it because it presents an incredible package of class and sophistication that Patek is known for.

It is definitely not a normal every day wear watch for me. I don't believe I will daily it as the baguette markers really make it feel like a special moments dress watch worthy for a magical event such as a wedding or black tie event. Exactly what Patek was going for and they nailed it.

Can't think of another better dress watch that checks all the boxes like this one.

Congratulations. Love to see some real wrist photos if you get a chance, so curious what’s it’s like without studio lighting

I have considered this as well as the 5205. I am just not thrilled with the useless (to me) 24 hour indicator that occupies a lot of real estate on the dial.

This one is the best of the 5396 bunch and maybe the best looking AC in total.

But I will never own a Patek with a 24h ring interrupted by the date window instead of a date ring. If that wasn't enough they have the center pinion go right through the 24. Just not a great design.

Obviously they know how to do it better, think 3448/50 or the current 5320, but as always with Patek you have to pay up for them to do things right.

Beautiful watch, Patek Philippe got it right, simply pure luxury simplicity, sophistication, and the annual calendar complication is a PP true and true. I hope to see more from the Calatrava line, 36-37 mm case and basic dress watches with beautiful and simple dials, updated movement, like a modern version of the 5196. Hopefully next year.

I love this watch I had a tough time considering it vs the 5205G. I like the case size better but ultimately I liked the date/day/month aperatures better on the 5205G as well as the sector layout. Can't go wrong with either in my opinion though.

Love this reference. Got to try it on recently at a boutique while traveling and the watch is absolutely a stunner. It's definitely my next request to my AD, but only after they allocate me my 5726/1a. Lol.

Here's a recent wrist shot. Does anyone know how to edit a prior post? It's not showing me the option anymore - and this prior post looks like a total mess

Is this blue dial the same shade of blue as the one on the 5205g?

Anything with a moon phase is going to hold value and turn heads. Patek compl are truly unique can't go wrong here

I found the reference just a bit too chunky to wear as a daily. I do like the dial design though. Very much like a 3448! I’m not sure why they didn’t do this version in platinum with that kind of dial and would have been a good version to retire the reference with!

Agreed. Super happy with mine but feel it's too much for a daily office watch.
