Saw a DJ II in the wild today

Comparison pictures between it and the current DJ 41 don’t do it justice. It is quite a bit more beefy than what the pictures suggest. I could pick them out a mile away now. Anyway, just thought I’d mention.

The dial options on the dj2 were so much better than the 41. But the slimmer case and jubilee option make the 41 a better pick. Hopefully they expand the dial
Options.

IMHO on smooth bezel and oyster it makes a great sports watch. And I prefer the movement over the problematic current one.

I am a big fan of the DJ II in SS. I have owned most of the models over the years.

They're quite unique. Along with the Day-Date II, I think they're short production run and thick bezels make them fun and interesting.

To me, the DJ41 and DD40 look remarkably proportional to their respective 36mm examples, just bigger. Nothing wrong with that all. But the "II" generation watches look very different that their respective 36mm counterparts.

I never took a liking to it. To me, awkward proportions.

It's a good looking piece. Looks solid, beefy and less delicate looking than the current. I have the current and I've been eyeing one for sale fully stickered up. With the black, stick dial, it almost looks like it is meant to go diving.

Yeah, they're super nice. And I would add that "beefiness" carries over into the DD2, which are also phenomenal watches.

I would probably still have mine, but I've moved away from the DJ line in general.

Being retired has probably had something to do with that.

Exactly this. I love the DD2 which just seems more masculine.

My first Rolex was a blue Datejust II. I'm a happy Datejust 41 owner now, but part of me misses the old fatter watch.

I actually prefer the proportions of the DJ II over the 41, having a large wrist.

Only reason stopping me buying one is I prefer a jubilee strap on a DJ, but as it was only available on oyster, I will pass.
