polish my 116610 after service?

What's your thought? I have the usual desk dive scratches on one side of the bracelet and the clasp.

I wouldn’t. Especially on the clasp. I had a 114060 and the clasp gets rounded off from polishing. Plus, what’s the point, it just comes back. If you polish the case on newer references I generally find that ok as they can handle it. Has to be done right and carefully.

The only time any Rolex needs any sort of polishing is at normal routine RSC service only,in general Rolex watches get a very pampered life today,as most all scratches will be mainly superficial.

I think it depends on how rough you are with your watches. If you get a polish and you’re just going to scratch it up again I wouldn’t bother.

In my case, I’ve never had a watch polished and for the most part they still look fantastic (typical swirls etc) but no deep scratches or dings.

If you scratch it regularly on the desk then the watch will be in the same condition in no time if you polish now. I wouldn’t. Either be more careful with the watch and desk or leave as it and enjoy the patina.

As you're unsure, then keep your options open and don't polish.

If you get it back and after a week wish you _had_ polished it, you can send it back for a polish.

But if you do polish it and regret it, there's nothing you can do.

I used to keep my watches pristine but I've come to the realization that one thing I hate more than a ding or a scratch is a polished ding or a scratch.

My 16570 is going in for service soon and I'm going to try to work with an independent watchmaker to go after a single ding and leave the rest unpolished. If that's not a possibility, I'll leave it alone.

Good choice. My Sub Date is going to my kid when he gets older. I want him to look down at it and remember long after I'm gone the fun we had on our adventures, trips, life in general, which is why the scratches got on there.
