It really is, and I’d bet most people who say they dislike it have not seen it in person. As I mentioned, I generally much prefer sticks to Romans, but this dial is special.

Admittedly I did not read this entire thread but here's my take on the Wimbledon dial... I like it, I own it on the 41 but it is a very hard to read dial. My eyesight isn't horrible although I do require reading glasses but I don't wear it as often as I would like to because it's difficult to tell the time. My wife wears it quite a bit. Her eyesight is quite a bit better but she agrees it's tough to read the dial, she wears it more for jewelry purposes.

It's a coin with 2 sides basically....one that love it. The other side that don't care (I handled it at my AD and I didnt like the uneven lume markers and the dial is mix of painted dial and white gold markers. I put myself on the white dial DJ41 waitlist instead).

But yeah, if u like it, then thats all it matters :).

A few have nailed it imo. It's a love hate kind of thing with this dial.

Not sure seeing it person would change many minds... It is what it is regardless imo.

I think it must be widely available as a lot seem to end up on the secondary market, well in the UK anyway.

Darn! I actually like how mine looks, but haven’t yet had a Rolex on jubilee. Also, I noticed you probably live pretty close to me. Hope you aren’t near the fires. I’m about a hundred miles away.

Sounds entirely sensible. Good looking, highly recognisable, not especially legible but pretty watch.

Wimbledon vs Azzaro

While I'm not in the market for a Datejust, a friend of mine bought a lovely rose gold two tone Wimbledon back in March. Beautiful watch and I could see the appeal of the dial.

However, last week another friend picked up an Azzaro blue which I find equally as stunning, yet from reading these forums and general chat that watch does not seem to get half as much love as compared to the Wimbledon....

Had an interesting conversation with the owners on why this is the case...came up with...

Color combo of Wimbledon dial simply appeals to more folks, plus you can get the dial on a variety of two tone configurations as well as steel

Pure hype...a bit like batgirl vs Pepsi...the 3 of us prefer the color combo of the batgirl but if we had to own one we would be drawn more to the Pepsi due to the allure

Would be interested in everyone's thoughts...

That blue is the one to have imo no competition.

The single 9 o'clock lume drives me bananas. That alone is a visual deal-breaker.

The stick marker at nine balances out the date window nicely, and sheds just enough light to read the time in the dark. It doesn’t bother me, at all. I never cared for Romans, until I saw these green/ black ones on the Wimbledon, in person. As soon as I saw this watch at My AD, I fell in love with it. The Azzuro blue is just OK, to me. I have my Silver OP, and 2 more Rolexes I’d like to have, but this will likely remain my favorite.

You are 42 miles away from us. We are in the Central Valley, in wine country, surrounded by vineyards. Very peaceful for this east coast city girl!

Love my fluted jubilee Wimbledon SS. Couldn't be happier. I had to choose between this and the blue, and I'm glad I picked this. Still attracts lot of eyeballs whenever I wear it outside, and love looking at the dial under different lighting. This is definitely for people who like something 'unique'

I have 2 DJ41 watches. Wimbledon smooth jubilee. 'Bright Blue', (blue) smooth jubilee.

The 'bright blue', to me, is a bit deeper, richer shade of blue than Azzaro.

The Wimbledon is interesting to read folk's comments about. Like/dislike (some say hate, which is pretty strong language considering it's just a watch dial), easy to read/hard to read, classy looking/sporty looking.

It’s on my list. Wasn’t fan until I tried an exhibition sample at boutique.

It’s beautiful in its own right, just not for me.

The deep emerald of the Roman’s are really beautiful. However just not crazy about Roman’s. Maybe even less so in this variant as it all looks a bit crowded IMO. Plus the 9 o’clock índice is kinda odd.

Beautiful in its own way, just not for me.

It’s a train wreck. The dial looks like it was made in error but Rolex decided to sell it anyway. The 9:00 marker makes me want to put a bag over its head. But for those who like it, enjoy! Beauty of this hobby.
