Even though SS is considered more "sought after" for the most part, they still fly under the radar when on wrist and don't jump out as a luxury watch to the untrained eye (which is 99% of people).

It’s actually really nice to wear PM exclusively for a while and then switch to SS. It’s refreshing. The reverse is also true.

Yes, I have always had two tone Rolex’s until last August when I purchased a 116618LB Sub & the difference in weight is substantial, I don’t think I would wear a S/S or two tone Watch ever again

For me it did. I love the weight and feel of my PM pieces and never bought a SS piece for years. I do sometimes think of buying them again but it hasn’t come to it yet

Same here - last 6 pieces over the last 3 years have been PM.

Also, haven't been offered many steel pieces the last 4 yrs. The ones I have gotten were on the heavier side also (Deepsea and 43SD)

I had a Platona and found it unwieldy and parted ways with it. Personally, I now have three gold, a two tone and a stainless. The gold on OF is the most worn of the lot, the WG next and the all yellow gold the least of the gold all though all are worn more than the TT or SS. In translation, having the alll gold Sub on my wrist makes me feel like I stand out. The WG and the gold on OF are less conspicuous. In truth, none likely notice the all gold and it's all in my head.

I got a (slightly used) platinum Daytona when I wasn’t getting called for a white SS one. I love it to death and wear it every day, but imagine I could also be very, very happy with a SS one.

Two weeks ago I bagged my first PM - a DD40 YG white roman and I’ve hardly worn anything else since.

Next year I’ll be grabbing my second PM.

My interest in SS has completely gone.

I was always a SS guy, had a decent collection of about 4-5 pieces I wore in a pretty regular rotation. My first Gold watch wasn't a Rolex but actually a vintage Piaget Polo I bought about 5 years ago I would wear from time to time and then it became more often. I eventually sold most of my SS watches and bought a Gold Sub, so yeah id say for me it changed my watch wearing habits.

This is a non-issue IMO, but people need to be themselves. My recently acquired WG DJ 41 blue stick dial is much enjoyed and appreciated but has not eroded my love for my acquired new in 2005 no date two line sub I've worn daily for 19 years. I alternate between them roughly daily and totally enjoy putting either on in the morning and removing them at night. So, in a word, no.

I think the PM has to hit an inner connection with the owner for it to feel more special or not. On the surface it’s just a “Rolex” to anyone else looking at you in the wild and even then most don’t even see your watch.

Pretty sure everyone considers the DJ41 stainless steel even with the fluted version having the white gold bezel.

Without hesitation the answer is no. There is a time and place for everything and a PM Rolex is not appropriate for any and all occasions. There are plenty of times to choose SS over PM.

Probably correct, and even I do. Not certain about the platinums however. Perhaps it's more a question of the expressions of gold colored Rolexes over silver colored ones. That said, I don't wear gold but for my old fashioned gold wedding band and that only out of tradition and loyalty. Therefore, I would wear a platinum or white gold anything over a yellow, rose, or anything gold. YMMV.

My SS Yachtmaster feels much more durable than the SS Cartier. The Cartier is gorgeous but feels cheap. I also received a TT Seiko as a gift (the one that looks like the TT DJ). The bracelet was so cheap feeling that I put it on a rubber strap.

It’s why a Rolex with SEL feels more durable than one with hollow. PM feels more luxurious than SS.

Some less expensive cars use thinner steel on the outer body. You can feel the difference in quality and workmanship when you close a car’s door.

I’d use different words. I think the heft makes it feel more substantial and expensive. But my $150 G-Shock is by far-and-away the most durable watch I have. It’s also the lightest. When I put it on, I just know I can go to hell-and-back without damaging it.

Frequently asked question here or some variation. I have certainly spent PM money buying close to 100 watches over the last 40 years but have never owned one nor plan to.
PM watches simply don’t ask fit my lifestyle at all. During my working life it was mostly spent in a tech type office, dressing up there would have been weird. Now retired for three years I am very active, riding my mountainbike most days. I have no problem wearing my SS Rolex doing that, mostly the OPs, wearing a gold watch doing that would look silly.
The closest I ever came to buying one was around early 2019 when I almost picked up one of the last DayDates on leather strap. It was a simple rose gold with black dial on a black strap that looked nice without being gaudy, the AD was also offering a hefty discount to move it. Ultimately I realized I just wouldn’t wear it much and costing as much as two SS models I would wear just wasn’t worth it.

I went my forst PM two mpnths ago and I have already traded my 4 ss models for two Pm.
I'm looking to trade in two remaining ss and keep collection low to three PM watches, each in different gold. I'm soo in love with feeling on the wrist , WG sub being my favorite by far Op- try & go PM , You'll most likely never go back
