Looking for a first Panerai ... blue dial

As the title says I'm hoping to jump into the world of Panerai but would prefer a blue dial. My collection is lacking blue at the moment. I like the luminor series and would love to have a blue leather strap and rubber. The first one I noticed that fit my required is the 1085. I know that's sort of the "entry model" but are there any deal breaker negatives with it? Any other blue dials you can recommend without getting too pricey? Thanks!

From the current collection I’d suggest the 1313. IMHO it’s worth the extra cheddar for a screw down back and 300m WR.

I looked at that one, and I do like it. I just think for this watch I prefer to not have a date. Maybe I'll think a little more on this. I have heard the criticisms before about the depth rating and case back but for me neither is really an issue. If I can swim with it in the deep end of a swimming pool it works for me.

Hmmm, maybe I can talk myself into getting one with a date. That does look really good. I see DavidSW has one for sale at what looks like a good price.

1085 would fit your needs without an issue. Part of the fun of Panerais are winding them and the strap changes with the lug screws. No date is always a plus in a larger collection as well.

Yep, that seems a good price.

See. I think a date is the second biggest reason for wearing a watch, I view it as essential.

And it would be a must to be automatic too, I have no wish to continually manually wind a watch.

1313 has a little button to release the spring bars, really easy to change the straps, and agree a big draw is swapping out different straps.

For blue dial PAMs, it's hard to top the 690, IMHO.

Beautiful watch for sure but I think I have my heart set on a Luminor. To me, when I think of Panerai, the Luminor is what pops in my head.

New 10 day power reserve out. Pretty sexy but pricey. PAM01482 is the reference.

Would a Luminor Submersible work for you? If so, the 692 is quite nice.

You can also go to this database and search for “blue”: https://panerai.watchlounge.com/all-watches/

It’s very nice

Mike, this was the year that Panerai introduced four exceptional blue dials … maybe one of these (I get you don’t want the 690)

I'm looking to spend maybe up to $6K preowned. Honestly under $5K would be better. This is how I keep ending up where I started with the 1085.

That gold GMT is a total stunner! I can get that for ~$6K right?

Ok so they might not hold their value like a Rolex … 690 notwithstanding
