I voted DJ because I would go rhodium/slate dial on the YM40.

The YM40 is a beautiful watch in blue too however…

Option 3. Blue dial turn-o-graph. Kinda splits the two down the middle. It's a watch I really like.

Pleasantly surprised by the closeness of this poll. Interesting that YM 40 is standing its ground against the DJ41, a considerably more popular model.

Can't go wrong with either. I'm just partial to the YM.

I’d say the DJ41 is only popular because it tends to be cheap and available.

Yachtmaster is in a different price bracket and league, not really sure they are comparable. Don’t see someone who can afford and has access to purchasing a YM actively choosing a DJ.

I know watch size is very subjective and down to personal preference, but both of those watches are a bit dainty and bordering on being too small.

That’s definitely not true in my case. All things being equal (cost & availability), I’d take the DJ41 all day, every day. Plus, the MSRP cost difference is inconsequential. And the blue dial DJ41 isn’t exactly easy to get either.

But I don’t dislike the YM. I actually like it a lot.

I love the YM with blue dial, but if the bezel gets slightly scratched it is difficult to get it corrected to original finish. A slightly scratched DJ can be buffed out.

One advantage of platinum is that scratches are metal moved which when repaired, is metal returned. For other metals, both scratches & polishing is metal lost. It could be argued platinum is a better long term metal option as most of its mass is retained.

I’ve seen a few comments about supposedly how easy it is to scratch a platinum bezel versus other metal too. I’ve not seen much (if any) actual evidence of that on YM’s, and there’s plenty of damage free pictures of YM bezels in this thread & others. The bezel on my YM40 is handling any wear extremely well - I find I have to be more concerned about protecting the SS bracelet PCL’s!!
