Easy. Depends whether you own a yacht or a submarine.

YM wears small with the curved lugs, beautiful in the sunlight. YM is dangerous when you first wear it, you find yourself staring at it while driving. Slightly heavier than the Sub.

In a nutshell :

Take the blue pill, buy a pedestrian and utilitarian looking black Sub. Sleep with the peace of mind you have what everybody else wants. If all aspire to owning one, it must be good, right? Stay in the numbing and reassuring beaten path. Follow the social media influencers for inspiration on your choices in watches.

Take the red pill, buy the Yacht-Master and step into another dimension, a world of connoisseurs who understand the subtleties and sophistication of such an exquisite and elegant sports timepiece. Appreciate its rounded case edges and curvaceous lugs embracing your wrist to perfection. Enjoy the convenience of its butter-smooth bi-directional bezel. Most won’t agree with your choice but you don't follow the herd. Instead, you are your own boss and need nobody's validation and pat on the shoulder. You are now at the turning point separating men from boys.

Only joking, love both (YM, regular Sub), but not in equal measure. Now if we're talking TT Sub, that's a worthy opponent to the YM, although the case design is still a flat and square block of steel,.compared to the curvy YM.

Thanks. Have a regular sub, a bluesey, and a Hulk, plus a daytona 126500LN.

Hadn't really been interested in anything else...except for Daytona's I won't pay the going rate for, when I saw the blue Yachtmaster...which also lead to the titanium, the white gold, and the yellow gold versions. All look nice. Some way more affordable than others.

I have both, and I feel the 40YM has a more premium feel. The most comfortable watch I own. Case size is very similar to the Daytona.

Op, both are very nice either or , the Sub is definitely a tool watch for divers, the YM is a fancier piece with a different look and some functionality. Shiny.. Also you have more dial color options. With the Sub in SS models you can have any color as long as it’s black currently. One bezel option the Green.

If you can try them on both , see how they feel on the wrist and look, all depends on your wrist size and your personal preference.

Cheers,

The blue dial is appealing....the white gold with falcon eye is cool but not for the price.
Its case is similar to the DJ, Daytona. It isn’t blocky like the case on the Sub or Explorer II, etc.

For versatility and aesthetics, I prefer the Yachtmaster
They both are unarguably great pieces however
