Aquanaut 5167/1A, if you have the choice... go for the steel bracelet option !
For some reason most people prefer that ugly plastic ( rubber ) strap. Must be me but I can't stand it.
Always disliked cheap looking rubber or nato straps :-) It's like wearing a made to measure Kiton suit ... and wearing some ugly rubber crocks at the same time Anyway, to each his own I suppose but a rubber strap on a high end watch gives me the same feeling :-) If you can buy one of these Aquanaut I would definitely suggest to buy the one on a steel bracelet. It's 4K more expensive but really worth it. Besides, you can order a rubber strap and steel deployment. If you buy one on the swatch looking strap you can NOT order a steel bracelet afterwards So go for the 5167/1A and not the 5167/A. Also know that only 1 out of 4 is delivered with the steel bracelet. Talked to my AD rencently and in the last 10 (!) years he only received 4 on a steel bracelet and about 3 - 4 times more on rubber. Waiting lists are as you know insane. rather like almost impossible to get. Since the 5711/1A is discontinued this even got worse. Just some pics And that dial ... depending on the light it goes from black to grey, brown

One of the best and, yet, least liked bracelets in the world of wrist watches. When Patek put it on the 5905/1A people loved it until it was pointed out what it was.
While I like the rubber strap I prefer the versatility of the 1A since you can have both although I've proven to lazy to change from the bracelet over the past 5 years. |

I am one of those who aren't a big fan of the Aquanaut bracelet. In my eyes it makes the 5167/1A look more brutalist than 5167A and less refined than 5711/1A. If I were to get a 5167 I'd still get both the bracelet and the rubber strap for additional flexibility though.

Before I traded for the 5167R I probably wore mine on the bracelet about half the time. I did have to buy a 1.5 link and the lack of a micro adjustment is a disadvantage. However, I felt it was a great everyday watch and I really liked the look.
However, wearing it on the rubber during the summer was something that I always looked forward to. It was like I bought a new watch. The watch is light and easy to wear already, but on rubber it feels like nothing. And having an expensive watch solely on a rubber strap is not a problem to me. After all, that’s the whole Richard Mille collection. So I definitely think it is worth the versatility to buy it on the bracelet. But if your collection already has a couple watches on bracelets, I can see sticking with rubber for the 5167. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

is the case not marginally different between the rubber and bracelet versions? So retrofitting the rubber strap will not give you a perfect fit?

It is the same case whether one buys an Aquanaut with the SS bracelet or not.
My thought is that one should go for the Nautilus if they hate the rubber strap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

There’s a big difference in the clasp on the 5167 rubber and the comps you’re mentioning. You need to try it and see. The light rubber goes with the thin watch and the combo is light and liberating.

Aquanaut 5167 is the ONE timepiece that does it all......
The workmanship finish, the clean highly legible dial, the excellent lume, the slimness case, and the light weight.... Tell me what other Patek or other timepieces could match the 67 that does it all...... From formal to casual.... 3 different type of set up... Patek Philippe original equipment manufacturer strap such as bracelet, rubber, and crocodile leather strap with pin buckle or Calatrava cross deployant clasp.... Cheers,

In my opinion, the Nautilus was designed to be on a bracelet by Genta whereas the Aquanaut was designed with the rubber strap as the default.
I never considered buying a Aquanaut on a bracelet just like how I feel a Nautilus on a strap is missing something integral but everybody has their own tastes! |

Thanks for sharing the pictures unknown and SL BRABUS !!
Makes me want to get the 5167 on bracelet even more!! Need to complete the holy trinity… already have the VC 4520V and AP 15510… 5711/1A is fitting but that’s not going to happen - will only buy at retail. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Man if new 5167s (tropical or bracelet) hit $40k, I’ll definitely scoop one up.

Brand new ones about 60k, older ones without papers low 40s. Mint ones in the 50s

I have both and think it gives you nice optionality to switch between them. Totally different watch on the steel band vs the rubber strap.

It does look good on bracelet, I think of a watch of this caliber needs to be on bracelet. Just my opinion

When I first encountered the Aquanaut, I loved it on the bracelet! It was available for purchase but unfortunately, I wasn't wise enough to buy it.
