Discontinued 116509 blue dial question….

Hey all, was the 116509 WG blue dial discontinued in 2023 or 2024 (I’m 99% sure it was in March of 23. Also, does it seem strange Ive found a pre owned of this reference dated Sept of 2023 if indeed it was discontinued in March of 2023? Thanks in advance!

March of 2023.

Because Rolex will have stock in various stages of production, customs, and distribution. Plus dealer withheld stock, if applicable. Very normal for discontinued pieces to be sold new for months after removal from the calendar, sometimes longer.

Yup, sometimes even longer and if it’s a transitional piece like the early 2K Submariner’s there is some overlap.

Cheers

Also, the date they put on the warranty card is the date that the watch was purchased. I actually bought this watch from my AD after it was discontinued. They still had one on display after it was discontinued and I got them to sell it to me a month later when they swapped out that batch of exhibition watches. The date that put on the warranty card is the date that I purchased the watch.
