White Gold Day Dates....

I keep trying to decide what white gold sports model to add to my small collection and now keep thinking white gold day date instead. Always like to know what people think about their watches.

while I have a difficult time understanding the Allure of white gold because it looks so similar to stainless steel. yellow gold 18 carat or perhaps even rose gold 18 karat would be my preference. About the only way I could see buying white gold is if I didn't want anyone else to know I was wearing gold except for myself. And perhaps a few discriminating individuals that know how to pick white gold out from amongst all the stainless that's out there. With that said I know there are a lot of people that like white gold.

WG DDs are very cool. Under the radar, ish, but more elegant than a WG sports model like the Sub or GMT. A couple of great dials in white, blue, olive, and meteorite, its not a bad watch at all. I would love to see a white dial in person.

With DD, first yellow, then rose, then white… in that order. you have to have the three!

The day date in white gold is an awesome compliment to a sports watch collection. Dressy and elegant yet flies just under the radar. Definitely Meteorite dial if you can find it.

I want a WG DD40 eventually. my dad has 2 YG DD40s so i don't need YG for now. I've tried on the Blue, white and meteorite dials. my first impression of the Blue is that it's pretty but pretty dark. We have DJ41with the similar blue dial and realize it is not that dark. I've wanted the white dial as i thought it would be versatile, but then realized it is too understated and would be a waste of 40K to have such a subdued watch. I felt for that money it should pop. So i pivoted to meteorite, however the new ombre blue is interesting me maybe more than the meteorite as I love the Romans more than baguettes. The meteorite dial is the the pinnacle of dials though and mesmerizing!

Bought white dial white gold combo today.
Very happy with the purchase.
I also have a DD36 with a blue ombre in my collection, but I think I’ll sell them because the white dial is much more beautiful.

For WG, my choice is the GMT. I'd go with YG for a DD.

I like WG but by the time I get around to picking one I usually pick up some other type of PM.

If I ever buy a DD it'll be WG with a white dial. If you like it, go for it!

That's really classy looking. I don't think I've ever seen a white dial white gold model before. That could be a one-watch-only type of watch.

Thank you all for the congratulations!
The watch is indeed very beautiful in person; from the pictures in the Rolex catalog, I would have never guessed that the dial would look so stunning in real life.
I’ve noticed that Rolex tends to favor certain dial colours. For example, I’ve seen the white gold Day-Date 36 with the blue ombre dial at dealers MANY times, but almost never with other dials. It seems like they produce what they internally believe is liked by the majority, in this case, the blue dial. The simpler options, like white or silver dials, are much harder to come across than they might initially seem.

It's totally dependent on what you like, you can't go wrong with a white gold DD on a white dial it's a perfect choice, it looks really great in person. I will be adding a white gold, blue ombré dial to my collection in due time I love it too.

My dealer also currently has Pink Opal dial version available. As far as I know, this is the first time Rolex has used this stone in production.
The color is incredibly beautiful in person.
I know it might be difficult to wear such a watch as a straight man, but I really like the color!
It's stunning; the pastel shade is perfectly chosen.
If only they would remove those diamond markers…

Nothing wrong with having a pink dial as a straight male.
I’m just not into that particular dial on that watch.
But beauty is always in the eye of the beholder…
