It does look to be an inch or two high in the back. That is Pete Conrad's suit from Apollo 12 and he did wear the watch above the pressure relieve valve on the upper part of his forearm.

I know that NASA tested these watch to various extremes of temperature and pressure etc, but I sometimes wonder what actual conditions the watches actually experience when being used in space? For instance what temperature variations would the watch experience when in use?

It makes me wonder if the watches were tested to parameters which the wearer would not actually survive.

Does anyone have any ideas and / or information about this?

Haven't put my Speedy through as rigorous a trial as described above but definitely a staunch companion when SHTF. The only issue with it is the poor lume. The hesalite also gets scratched easily but I've never polished it in almost ten years and it doesn't affect legibility at all.
