Solid gold watches
Who has a solid gold piece, how do you feel it in your wrist game? Empowered?

I always love solid gold timepieces. I think they are gorgeous and classy, they are jewelry for men.

They are heavier and that's about it.

⬆️⬆️ This for sure. But…as Michael demonstrated with these stunners, there are white metal pieces that can be just as “empowering”, prestigious, fancy, flashy, stunning, etc…depending on size, gemstones, brightly colored bracelet/strap, brand recognition, etc….
I love solid gold and they certainly make a statement, especially when on bracelet. I personally don’t feel any kind of empowerment when wearing one, just more aware that it’ll potentially (not very often) get more attention. I have white metal pieces that’ll likely get the same or more noticeability as a solid gold piece. I enjoy all equally |

I have a solid gold Royal Oak Chronograph and typically wear it on a strap. I don’t mind the weight, but it attracts more attention than I want. So I wear it for special occasions and a little more often on the bracelet during long sleeve weather.
For me the gold is really beautiful and I like the look of it. But I feel more of a wow factor when I wear my 5712. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

When I was first able to afford PM it was a significant milestone for me in both ownership and wear. Twenty Five years later, not so much. I still like PM pieces and owning them is still nice but not the end all, be all I thought they would be.

Solid gold pieces are certainly special indeed. I couldn't picture myself wearing my 18238 daily, but every time I do put it on, it's an occasion. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside :D

I honestly barely wear it, I’d probably wear it more if I wasn’t so cheap and bought insurance for it and other pieces of jewelry I’ve bought over the years.

I love the look of stuff like a rose gold day date with olive dial, or an APRO in rose gold but, I think it’s kind of hard to pull off if you’re younger. Maybe once I’m 60+ :-)

Still a ‘special occasion piece’ which i wore at my wedding last week, however having recently moved out of London I’m finding it getting more wrist time which is great. Interestingly any ‘non-watch’ people I know think it’s looks like a ‘used car salesman Casio haha’ but fortunately I love it and any of my watch buddies love it also Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I love it. I need to shed some steel in my collection and add more PM on bracelet.

Thank you. I wear it rarely and sometimes the thought of selling this watch comes to mind. But when I look at it, I admire it again and the thought goes away. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I very rarely find myself wearing this one, it belonged to my father and my only gold watch it’s a Girard Perregaux by my guess its perhaps from the late fifties/early sixties- but next week my nephew is getting married and I’m supposed to wear a tux so I’m going wear this and couple of his cuff links.

Thank you! to answer your question, this watch brings up memories of my parents. So I guess by wearing next weekend it will perhaps empower me. After all it’s not a watch that I wear very often it’s rather delicate and I prefer watches that are more stealthy for daily use. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Love gold for sure 👍 not for any status, I just think it looks good. If there were another gold-colored metal used for watches that could be polished and not wear off for less money, I'd be all over it! But until that material comes, it has to be the real stuff for me ✨

Great thread and pics…
Nothing to add but hoping to bump to the top so others can keep posting pics. (I’m hoping to add a moonshine Speedy on rubber as my contribution someday) |
