Ensuring Rolex is authentic

Hello all,
I am on the hunt for a day date. I will be going to a watch store that has preowned rolexes. Is there anyway that an untrained eye can spot an authentic versus not authentic ?

Just post the store. Very unlikely for an actual brick and mortar store to sell fakes.

Buy the seller, not the watch. It can be hard to spot fakes, but if the seller is reputable the chances of them selling fakes are slim and if they do end up selling you a fake you'll have the recourse.

Seconding "buy the seller." Check reviews online. It's a big purchase, don't try to chase price.

Ask to see if they can open the case back.. make sure it is not a fake movement.

This is one of the reasons that I'm reluctant to buy second-hand watches. Since I still can't get a new watch from AD, I might need to do more research and courage up and buy it here

the only way is to buy your watch from the AD. there are always risk of buying a fake or a stolen watch from grey dealer, even you know very well about watches.

Maybe tell us the name of the name of the store … someone here might have feedback on the seller.

if you're serious about a watch, post some pictures on this forum and you'll get some good feedback.

Are their many DD fakes. It is a full gold watch. Most jewelry stores can tell you if its gold and the karats. The thing with modern DDs is the hard-to-get dials may be fake and substituted.

Have you considered buying new or CPO from an AD?

I agree, buy the dealer first, always. Congrats on the purchase.

Cheers

Their website does not instill confidence in their skill vetting Rolex authenticity.

Shoes, handbags, gold rings - maybe.
Watches - methinks not.

I'll admit, I'm super paranoid of the grey market because the Super clones are THAT good.. to the point that the really good ones even look real when you take the back off. The way to tell is in the extremely fine details.

Like many have said, buy from a trusted dealer, and even then I'd have it checked out by a well educated third party if it was something like a Panda.. they are willing to deep fake the ones with the biggest markups and demand.
