Help- New Patek Deployant Clasp Question

Hi,

I just received and fitted my new steel deployant clasp for my 5212. I have a delugs alligator strap which seems a lot of fellow members use with Patek deployant

I’m concerned about the strap stud, it is pushed as deep as possible but is basically flush with the backside of the strap? Is this normal or is my strap too thick? Should it clear all the way through?

It would scratch the other side of the clasp if it pushed all the way through so I thought maybe this is correct?

it's probably due to the thickness of the leather. If the pin is secure, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thank you. Yours looks way more secure than mine, switched back to the pin buckle for this strap for now

I have had a variety of similar experiences with different deployants.

Your actually looks secure. The meaningful detail would be how the deployant closes.
Does it snap securely?

Secondly I would look at the pin from the point of is it held firmly vs loose? If it is firm I would consider it a win.

I have some that the hole is wider than the pin (very not ideal) , even those have been secure once the deployant is closed

(the concern of being too loose is when the clasp is in the open position)


For yours I would gently work around the leather with an edge and push the strap down around the pin.

Thanks for your insight. It snaps securely closed no problem, but knowing that stud is somewhere in the abyss of the strap length is nerve wracking for me.

Overall it feels secure but when the clasp is open you can tell the stud isn’t holding on to much, it pops out under very little pressure if you push the right way

Your strap is probably too thick. If it were me, I'd use a thinner strap for your new deployant - just to be on the safe side.

It’s the thickness of the strap, mine fits the same on Delugs alligator strap. It seems to be secure, so I’ve been wearing and not worrying about it.

seems secure to me .. its the thickness as every one said.. the thing is i didnt use any alligator strap on my 5212 or 5226. therefore cant compare delugs here

The factory strap is thinner and the hole appears slightly too large. The strap looks more for a tang buckle.
