Rolex DeepSea - SeaDweller RSC Service Estimate....
My Daily wear watch is generally my Black/Blue Deepsea. It's perhaps ~8 years old and was in excellent condition. I had actually been thinking lately how long it would go before requiring service. Tuesday I went to put it on, went to wind it and there was zero resistance when winding the crown.
I called the RSC in NY where I've sent 4-5 other watches over the years and they stated that they only perform warranty repair now and they instructed me to send the watch to the RSC in Dallas. I shipped Wednesday, the watch was signed for Thursday (yesterday) and this morning I received the estimate which I approved.. 'Complete overhaul, refinish bracelet and refinish case' $900 to include return shipping... While this estimate doesn't show it, I expect them to also replace the escape valve like the RSC has done on (2) of my other SeaDwellers.. The price is in-line with what I expected based on my previous experiances with the RSCs on SeaDwellers, and while the watch was still in beautiful condition for a daily wearer, I'm excited to get it back in near perfect condition.. The good news is I'm 'forced' to wear some of my other Rolexs for a while, LOL.. I hope this helps, more to come... . |

You’re very lucky that you shipped out the watch Wednesday, it delivered Thursday (yesterday) and already got an estimate today.
I’m anxiously waiting for my watch to get delivered to RSC Dallas as I dropped off my watch at the USPS on Monday, September 9th with an estimated arrival date being Wednesday, September 11th, your same ship date, and my watch is still here in Miami with no movement whatsoever. This was screenshot on Wednesday, the day it was suppose to be delivered And this is what it shows today as of a few minutes ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

FWIW, I had to send my “lucky 3” Submariner in for service a couple weeks ago. RSC quoted $1150 CAD for the full service, and 19 days.
Hope you get yours back sooner than later |

The shipping instructions I received stated to ship via USPS 'Registered" and no other way via USPS, OR my preferred carrier. The last time I shipped a Rolex via USPS "Registered" it took over a week travel time, so I shipped via Fedex this time... Very happy I did. . |

I recently sent my wife’s Datejust in for a service to RSC in the U.K. and they are quoting 9 weeks turnaround. Seems like a long timeframe.

i dont think the escape valve is part of the overhaul. if they didn't state it in the estimate, most likely they wont replace it unless something is wrong with it after they take the watch apart.

IDK....
The escape valves on (2) other of my SeaDwellers were automatically replaced by the RSC, I was told it was part of the standard SD service.. I don't recall it showing on the original estimates but did show on the final work orders which were the same price as my estimates.... I'll report back on what happens.... . |

Coincidentally, sent my DSSD 116660 a bit over 3wks ago (Lititz) and got my quote back last Friday; right at $900 for complete overhaul, refinish and re-certify depth, timing, etc.
They said 4-6wks but my AD said after we get the quote/est it's usually only a couple weeks tops to get it back. Pretty happy with the amount. Was afraid it was going to be higher. |

USPS Registered means that everybody who touches it has to sign for it and it’s always kept under lock and key. Slows things down but it’s reassuring. Also in general USPS tracking is often not updated in real time so I bet it’s farther along than it looks.

Will they give it the full-depth pressure test?

You did the right thing. Adding one week is nothing compared to the increased risk of FedEx overnight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

@Bas may know the full answer, but my local Rolex certified watchmaker said it's a static dry test. What I'd wonder is how the HEV is tested? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

What I meant was, I recall that the only equipment capable of fully pressure testing a Deepsea was located in Geneva and watches were sent there if anyone wanted a full pressure test. No idea if this is still true.

I read somewhere I think that NY and Dallas has the machine to test the DS now. I just remembered I sent a DS way back and it went to PA Rolex service/ training site they had to machine because I asked wanted to make sure it was fully tested to depth.

All I can do is wait it out and see what happens. USPS sucks. Especially here in Miami like you said.
