Discounts on GS???

How likely is it to get a discount on Grand Seiko? Looking to get my first GS but was not sure on the flexibility the salesmen or women had on these pieces...
thanks

not sure in America but certainly in the UK 15% is achievable if you pay in full, some models are in the sales on a relatively regular basis.

A locally owned store should discount most models 10-15%. Boutiques, typically not at all.

My last purchase was the Sea of Clouds. No discount. My husband bought a Soko and got 5%. I did get 5% on a Snowflake. Seems I got 15% off on a cherry blossom which surprised me. Nothing on Lk Suwa. I tend to purchase the more popular models. Might depend where you live. I purchase from Mayors in Orlando and Raffi in Ontario. Neither care to be aggressive with pricing.

DavidSW has decent inventory, if you want to go that route.

If I were you I would look up what's on sale with Japanese dealers on eBay or Chrono24. It's common for ADs in Japan to openly mark down some GS models by 20% in the display case, and the yen is at historic lows against the US$. There are great deals to be had with a little effort, compared to what you'll pay in the US.

In Norway, several dealers are selling out GS with at least 25% off as GS Europe has trimmed down number of retailers significantly. Taking into account the USD vs. NOK (or any other currency, save YEN / NOK), a brand new GS from Norway is a bargain never seen before. Funny, since GS do not accept dicounting - but their cut down on retailers in Scandinavia almost make the brand look like Invicta.

GS is surely paying the price for trying to get perceived "exclusive". LOL.

The same thing happened in the US with Rolex. The AD I purchased from left Rolex and was discounting their stock. I missed out. Of course, this was 7 years ago…

My AD that sells GS says they don't give discounts. I would imagine some ADs in the rural areas of the US may. I really love the blue snowflake.

Just got my SBGH295 for ~11% off (NC - USA, brand new with no purchase history at the AD. Not the deal of the century but what I was comfortable with.

I simply asked if they could do X out the door, they came back at $100 more and I said yes.

What about US only models like SBGA429 and SBGJ259...I like both of them a lot, but the US dealers I have been to says they don't discount. In HK I get at least 10% from the boutique even for limited editions.

The AD I went to did have an SBGA429 at least as of a few weeks ago. It has been on my wishlist but for what it's worth I wasn't as enthusiastic about it in person compared to pictures online. Regardless I can send you contact info if you'd like, but I'm not sure if they deal internationally. Send me a DM if you want info.

Do yourself a favor and buy pre-owned. There are some serious GS bargains out there. Their resale value on many models has really dropped.

I wasn't really looking for any particular model other than spring drive was the the movement I wanted. Randomly came accross a dealer in a different province offering a "final sale" SBGA439 for 25% of MSRP, I think because a newer version of basically the same watch had come out and this one had been sitting too long(?). Couldn't help myself and it's a lovely watch, get many compiments on it and the spring drive is great.
