Bluesy Dials

Hi All,

I recently purchased a 2017 TT Bluesy, which I love. I know the reference has gone through a few minor revisions from 2017 (movement, text color, etc.) but has the color of the bezel or dial significantly changed from 2017?

Thanks for your responses ahead of time.

Just curious to know if the newer references are "significantly better" than the slightly older ones.

Thanks again!

No, bezel and dial colours are the same. Personally i prefer the variants up to the 41 mm reference, except the 116613 that didn't have the sunburst dial. Don't like the increased size and lack of gold text on the dial for the 12 series. Some older variants have the blue purple dial which is superb.

Far from minor revisions. New movement with longer power reserve, different size, longer clasp, AR glass, gold to white dial font. Rolex pulled it off yet again by essentially launching a new model which lost none of the aesthetic appeal of its predecessor and can't be told from it at a distance or by a non WIS.

I particularly like the 11 series for its silky smooth, nearly silent movement and for the gold text. I don't need the power reserve or the AR. Those who do have the choice. Choice is good.

+1 for the gold font. The white pops more, but there's something special about the 116 with sunburst dial.

Wearing mine today. It's funny, I always wanted a bluesy since I first got into watches in mid 2000's, and when Rolex released the 12 series, I hated it at first because of the white text on the dial versus the gold. After some time, and seeing it more often (and in person) the white dial text has grown on me and I bought one last December. It has since become my favorite watch and I wear it several times per week. The bluesy really is something special, IMO.

Thanks, all. This may be a dumb question (because I haven't had a chance to compare side by side)), but is there any variation/difference in the color of the bezel and/or the dial of the 116613 LB vs the 126613LB? Thanks again!

Well you did have the flat blue dials between 2008/9 and 2013

Losing the gold text wasn't the best idea for the 216613LB but otherwise, brilliant watch!!!

I do however really appreciate the size and text color of the 116613LB the most....

2008 to 2012 the flat blue dial, well on the 116618LB after 2012 Rolex reverted back to the sunburst dial & I agree I much prefer the gold text on the dial as opposed to the white text on the 126618LB

Thanks, all...this is extremely helpful. But, no significant change to color for bezel and dial from say 2017 to 2020, is that correct?

IMO the white lettering is a significant change. Not in a good way. Gold lettering fits so much nicer

I love the old 5 digit dials. The ones that turned purple are outstanding.

I think the new white text looks ‘fresh’ and better than the gold print.

Same dial and bezel colour in 126613LB and 116613LB. I chose the former over the latter because of the redesigned lugs, wasn't a fan of the supercase. I prefer the 3135 movement and the smaller clasp of the 116613 though.

Is the text size (ROLEX lettering) the same on my 2017 version (40 mm) as the 2020 (41mm)? Thanks!

11 Series with “flat dial” / 12 Series with Sunburst Dial

It’s my understanding that the Sunburst Dial has not changed since its introduction in the 11 Series watches.

Flat blue here, it’s the only bluesy I prefer. Nice they ran a short run on these 2009-2012.

Just mainly cosmetic changes over the years, speaking for myself much prefer the TT 16613 over any of the ceramic bezel range.

I’m possibly in the minority but think the white text looks good on the new references. It plays nicely with the date wheel and indices.
