Ok, so I just noticed: this watch seems not to have an engraved rehaute. If that's the case, then I think that definitively establishes that it was a custom job, as any 16600 from anywhere near the end of the production run would have had it, right?

So, who do I have to know/give a vital organ to/have dirt on at Rolex to get someone to make me a 114270 :D :p?!

No 16600 I am aware of ever had an engraved rehaut.

Yeah this is correct, they never had them. Although other models had them by V series.

Yea, I thought the final run of all five-digit Professional models had it (OK, technically, the Explorer and Daytona had a sixth digit by then...).

Yay for my OCD not being triggered by misaligned rehaut!

I also couldn’t resist after seeing the ‘24 dial reconfig, and had to get this guy’s big brother for the ultimate SD duo. I’m going to be eating ramen for a while. What a week for my collection

Its truly an iconic classic. I really like how think they’re just a sub at a distance but then note the subtleties

But again, it was more that this one left the factory in 2018 and is pretty positively the last one that ever did. Not only 10 years after production ceased, but even after the 116600/SD40 successor model ceased as well! That’s what makes it so interesting
Great watch and interesting catch!

Never stumbled upon the other thread, but looking through my spreadsheet, I sold 5 V series 16600 over the years. Happy to add the serials in the other thread tomorrow if I get a chance
