Oh thanks yes. I think someone posted that in the other thread.

I really hope the line isn't called cubitus. It does not roll off the tongue and isn't elegant to me.

Am I the only one who is horrified by the name? When I here “cubitus” all I can think of is decubitus (ulcers). I will spare you the photographs.

Not a fan of the name either, hopefully they don’t go with that. Interested to see the watch though, no doubt will be in crazy high demand as an “entry level” Patek.

Thanks, yes, I saw that photo floating around the other day as well.

If this is real, frankly surprised that they are going with the same dial pattern as the Nautilus.

Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if “Cubitus” is just the code name… who knows. Really interested to see all the details at the reveal

There is no way that Patek would use the same dial pattern as the Nautilus. Not sure what that photo is, but I imagine it is photoshopped. IMO, using that dial pattern would be bad for the nascent Cubitus and Nautilus.

I think the name Cubitus was confirmed. Patek has also filed the requisite protections for that name, and it would be surprising for Patek to do that for a code name.

The one thing I would say is that it would not be THAT green dial.... would be very very very surprised if they introduce the shade of green of the 5711/1A as an introduction dial for a new line-up.

“I wanted a watch with the sporty, fresh spirit of a cabriolet”

Let’s hope it costs less than a Mercedes-Benz cabriolet!

The irony is that Stern will introduce the watch in Munich when convertibles have gone out of fashion here in Germany.

I think cabriolet relates to being able to switch between leather and metal bracelet

LOL - PP marketing and the capital costs of running a stand alone AD, or a segregated section in a larger store, needs massive retail margins let alone getting a decent return on the manufacturing costs and investment in the huge new factory.

I do sometimes wonder what the manufacturing cost, for example, of a basic Nautilus 5811 is as opposed to the added on marketing and luxury marketing cost of Veblen goods..

Perhaps my next purchase ought to be an ICE Mercedes before they all become electric.

My number for 5811/1G production cost is 15k to 20k max adding the gold value to what I think was the production cost for 5711/1A. I am confident the latter was below 10k until the end and I have read an estimate closer to 5k in the past (even MSRP was below EUR 20k ex VAT as recently as early 2018).

Seems a lot of pateks social media like IG have been featuring “cases that have shaped time” and many things they have feature have these square/rectangular shape. Maybe to set up for upcoming launch of new model line inspired by these

That dial has to be faked.

Copying it especially to a brand new line is just downright lazy and as far as I recall Patek have never done this.

Didn't the Stern's use to be dial makers before acquiring Patek Philippe. I would think the one thing he wouldn't compromise on is laziness with dials.

Compromise and Patek Philipe isn't usually read together full stop.

I'm prepared for Patek to have their 11.59 moment here, nothing about this watch is hinting at Patek DNA. Would love to be proved wrong.

Interesting after Aquanaut and Nautilus lines (somewhat "ocean" or water inspired), that the next sport line would be a diver, comparing to how Rolex as just one example has sport watches for different ethos (racing, GMT/flying, "exploring", diving, etc)

Either way very curious to see how this would stack against the Aquanaut line specifically, cannibalize?

Could totally see that. At release, didn't the 11:59 get lauded by the bought-and-paid-for watch "journalists," while laughed at by enthusiasts?

tonneau -flat top and bottom, rounded sides.
Vs
cushion.- Rounded 4 sides

The first watch pictured is tonneau
The next 2 are cushion (my 5940)
Your wrist shot (5040?) is tonneau

Sorry that’s never ever a dial, that’s the strap and the clasp otherwise the dial has space to the case :-) !!

as you may have saw, the cubitus secret is out. while i am not initially a fan of the design, i will say it is better than the 11.59 so +1 to patek on that front.

curious to see to see what complications are available upon official reveal on thurs. a chrono has my interest the most.

what are your thoughts?
