This has happened to me more than once as I split time between homes. On both occasions my AD simply took a payment over the phone and held the watch until I picked it up. One occasion was several weeks. Not sure why they could not do this for you.

Congrats on your new Panda, Op, if you really want the Polar ,ask the SA to speak to manager explain your situation and ask him to hold the Polar until Monday. Remember the manager does the allocations and has the power to anything he or she sees fit. Offer a deposit which I’m sure he/she will decline. Because of WOS policy. You have waited and we all have a life to live and responsibilities.

WOS does not care about their customers but there is always that exception.

Best of luck with whatever you decide..if it doesn’t work out at least you tried.

This really seems like an arbitrary policy that can only be a huge turn off to a busy consumer.

I have had an AD tell me this policy only applies to new Rolexes, not CPO or any other watch brands sold in the store. What?

Why do dogs lick their balls?

OP-

Assuming they are a jewelry store, you should go to their website and find some nice , expensive, diamond earrings.

Call them up, say you want to purchase them now and offer to give your card over the phone. Tell them you will pick them up with ID and the credit card used at the end of the week.

I guarantee you they will be OK with it. Right before giving them the last 3 digits of your card , simply say…

“Shoot, I forgot you don’t allow payment over the phone, I remember that policy from when I tried to buy a watch here”

If I were a native English speaker I’d have written exactly the same.

For my first three watches from my current AD I was able to go get it the day they called. I have gotten two more since I moved out of state and they were shipped to me after paying over the phone.
Exactly what I did last year. When I was on vacation I received a call from my AD that a watch I was interested came in. I gave them my credit card info, paid for the watch and picked it up when I returned from vacation. Easy peasy.

I got a call today and I was told my allocation was ready and they asked if I could come in to pick up the watch. I said I was away from home but would be coming back on Monday and I could pick it up as soon as I landed.

SA called back and told me that it is company policy to give customers a maximum of a 48 hour grace period to pick up an allocated watch. I told the SA that I couldn't make it and left it at that.

I'm not upset as I just picked up a Panda from another AD that I have a relationship with and I think I have a pretty good chance of picking up a Polar should I ask for one. I wanted to buy the Polar in the US cause sales tax is significantly less than what it is at this other AD.

What's really appalling to me is that Authorized Dealers continue to play these games... Not only do people have to wait for a watch, they must stay put while that call comes in.

Imagine being away on your dream family vacation while waiting for your dream watch only to be told you have to come back otherwise the chances are gone? Interesting way to sell products!

This isn't a rant at all... just a friendly PSA for anyone waiting for a watch from WOS that you should stay put indefinitely until your watch arrives, or else.

Have a good day everyone!
Why is it an issue, they have what you asked for, if you cannot be bothered to go and get it why shouldn't the AD sell to the next person on the list?

Maybe the AD doesn't think that you were serious about buying?

What ever the reason the watch is wanted by many, if you cannot get there someone else will.

That’s pretty ridiculous. I agree.

I had a similar circumstance when I got the call for my BLNR. But they allowed me to pay over the phone and then I came in a few days later and picked it up.

If you wired in the dough think they would hold the watch.

That is just BS. What happened to customer service? How is this a luxury experience? Forget all that, how about just some decency? Or is just about the $$$ and being purely transactional with your customers.

That's incredibly annoying. My local AD gave me a call about a piece I wanted and I already knew that I'd be out of the country when it arrived. He held it for me even through a flight cancellation.

I'm sorry you had to go through that.

Incredibly lame from the AD. End of the day it's not an in-demand watch and you would think in current climate, most ADs would appreciate the sale.

Forget about them and enjoy your Panda!

Did you even read what he wrote? Jeez. He said he was on vacation away from home. Is he is expected to just drop everything he is doing, re-book another flight, lose out on paid for hotel basically just cut short his holiday to come home to the AD who couldn't wait a few more days to hold the watch for him?

End of the day if I was in shoes I would have done the same as would you I expect.

They didn’t ask me to come in to pick up a watch that they’re giving to me for free. While $10K is irrelevant to many, it’s pretty significant to the majority of people on earth.

Why is this an issue? Because Watches of Switzerland expects their potential customers to sit at their homes indefinitely waiting for a call. They are so delusional and have become so accustomed with people begging that they think everyone worthy of the watches they are selling must drop everything, including time with family and fly back from wherever they’re soaking up the sun to pick up a watch.

As suggested by my original post, I’m not upset that they refused to wait until Monday. I’m not upset that they didn’t allow me to put the watch on my card and hold it there, I’m simply bothered because these fools expect people to feel as if though they have just won the lottery. Only someone with half of a brain would play by their rules.

I’m not new to this and didn’t come across Rolex during the hype. Maybe that’s what they’re used to!

It’s Northern NJ - Lots of money and lots of current and future customers. Luckily for me, I won’t be one of them.
