<<< Fratello article ~ bezel refinement? >>>

Ok, maybe I’m living under a rock and this has been discussed before …

For those who don’t want to click the link and read the article, the writer states that (in his opinion) the bezel on the 2020 to present references underwent a change of sorts and reflects less light than the previous ceramic models.

My 114060 is at RSC at the moment so I can’t compare to my 124060 but I don’t think I’ve ever noticed this.

Anyone else?

Interesting. He also claims the bezel on the older models is a "fingerprint magnet." I never noticed that.

I'm wearing my 114060 right now. The bezel looks great to me. I never cared about the lugs on it either...They look great to me.

When did you get a 114060, Brian? I thought most of the changes were in the lugs.

I won the TRF Submariner giveaway back in Feb 2017

I bought my 124060 in 2020 (about 2 weeks after launch date).

I too, thought most of the “refinements” were to do with the case, bracelet and of course the movement … all well documented here and elsewhere.

This is the first that I recall hearing that the bezel may have been tweaked.

I’ll have a closer look when I get my 114060 back from service.

Coincidentally, RSC called me yesterday to say I can come collect it, so I’ll be doing that next week

That's interesting! I haven't heard that one before, Brian. If true, that would be pretty cool, IMHO.

Interesting. I can not tell the difference between my 124060 and my 116610LV.

I've got a couple of pre 20's and I can't tell any difference between them and their post 20's counterparts.

That certainly does not mean anything by itself, but I do think sometimes, in the absence of anything of substance to write about, there are a lot of things written.

Could well be the case

The article is referring to comparisons between the black ceramic bezels on the 116 and 126 references

I think it’s an optical illusion he’s seeing based on the AR coating in the new models making them less reflective and shiny.

I actually noticed this on my ‘24 Sub, the bezel is definitely less black and it does hide fingerprints better! I was thinking about this a few days ago and then convinced myself that it was just me and surely there was no difference. Interesting other people noticed this as well

just the impression of the writer

and... funny that after talking about the "previous" being fingerprint catcher... there's a pic with the bezel fingerprinted :D
