Seek for Rolex 6265 Opinions

I am new for this forum and I had done some research of 6263. I found this watch look good with reasonable price. I would like to seek some advice before purchase a 6265 watch. Many thanks.🙏

Here is the watch details:
S/N: 74xxxxx – 1982

Not sure I’ve seen a dial look that silver on a 6265/3. Also, the pushers don’t look quite right, in the photos anyway. Maybe it’s just the harsh lighting.

Make sure you see the movement and have the watch fully authenticated.

Thanks for your comments. Yes it looks silver than the other yellowish silver. Not sure if it is because of different aging conditions. For the pushers, could you provide more details how to identify if it is legit or not? Thanks.

Close to mk2 but not quite IMO.
But as stated better clear photos could help.

The pushers look too wide at the base, but not sure. Something just looks a little off. Also, for a 7.4 serial (1982ish), I believe Rolex had already introduced the other style of pushers, with the lines around the tops, but it's close.

Do you have photos showing the movement?

Here's my 6.0 Daytona. I realize it's a couple of years older, but there are some stark differences when compared to your example. (Note that the other example above, by lovegmt73, has a service dial, although still very nice. Just pointing out for comparison purposes).

Thanks for your comments. I found in Japanese web. 74 seems like using MK2 pushers. What is your thought?

Can you get more photos of dial and esp. the DAYTONA on dial and the concentric circles and serifs on the subdials. There are two types of fonts/thickness/shade of Big Red ‘DAYTONA’ on the floating and non-floating of course.

Initial obs. Picture is awful so could be that, but the expected flat oval shape of letter O looks unusual, also the D shape and the distance between D and A looks too small and expected paint infill of the top left and bottom right of N looks low, and the gap between first and last letters ie DAYTONA to below subdial/register looks unequal.

The expected slightly different A’s do look ok though.

1985 is later than most of what I’ve read online for the switch to MK3 pushers. Either way, I’d recommend you read the info on the link below while researching:

Is it the sunburst effect of the silver dial regular or seems too much shiny?

If silver isn't your choice, the 6263s have a better set of dial options.

Of course, prices are 2x of 6265s.

Please be aware that you will spend a lot of money on routine maintenance if you plan on wearing it regularly. The parts availability is a factor (more accurately, the lack of NOS at reasonable prices).

Hi all,

Happy Friday. I found another 6265 and it seems good.
Do you have any comments on this watch?

It is ok for S/N 3.9m for Big Red?

Thanks 🙏

If I have learned anything from this forum, its that buying vintage, especially vintage Daytonas is a scary minefield lol. Beautiful 6263 in this thread.

I’d love to hear what the pros think about the case, lugs, and hole locations.
Could it be an early case?
Not sure about a floating Big Red on a 3.9 case as sigma big red for 3.9 is known.
Wrong end links and possible replaced bracelet; check clasp stamps.
Pushers & bezel type make sense to me for the serial era.
But I’d get lots of better photos of everything and post them.
Is that a scratched dial or crystal at the 4 hr marker?
Can you provide clearer photos and price?

Thanks for your comments. Attached with better photos and hope can help.
It is a 557B end link and a dirt on the 4 o’clock dial which can probably be removed. More comments are welcome 🙏

I don’t see any obvious red flags with the latest example, but I’d have some issues with the condition, especially the overpolished case and rounded lugs.

Also, looks like there’s green discoloration at the base of the 9 o’clock chrono hand, and you have a (common) flattened lume dot at 3 o’clock, which is relatively minor. Service crystal too, but that could be changed, of course.

What do you mean by “good value?” If you mean more inexpensive than other examples, there’s usually a reason. Bargain-hunting for a vintage Rolex, especially a 6263, is tricky. Sure, you can find good deals sometimes, but you will almost always pay the market value for the condition of the watch.
