Can’t decide between these two Black Bays
I’m usually the first to jump in in these threads with the “buy what you like” , but I find myself legitimately struggling.
I want a no date all purpose diver as a stopgap for a while. I love Tudor and I love green bezels. I think the 41 black bay would be perfect. Here’s the dilemma. I love green dials. I’ve always liked the Harrods edition and as we know it’s now available both at on line retail and at a discount slightly pre owned. I really like this watch. However, here are the cons. It’s the previous gen BB and lacks a few upgrades that we see on the newly released version. Biggest ones being 1. Thickness- 14.8 vs. 13.25 2. Metas certification 3. Available on 5 link (which I like ) The other watch I really like is the new Monochrome. It’s really the closest modern version of a five digit Sub that I have ever seen. It has the advantages of above (and a few others) but has a dial that I like less than the Harrods. I highly doubt there will be a new Harrods edition with the purchase of Bucherer , so waiting isn’t an option. Which do you guys think I should prioritize ? The dial I like better (aesthetics) ? OR The technically more advanced, newer, and thinner watch in a bracelet I prefer ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I like the Monochrome. It's "tool" for sure.

I have both the Harrods edition and the Burgundy dial black bay Metas.
They are both great watches but I wear the Harrods much more regularly than the newer model. I really enjoy the green bezel and I actually prefer the thicker case.

Great input… Didn’t think I would fish out an owner of both (albeit the red bezel). Interesting that you prefer the thicker model.

In this case, I’d go with the green one. You already have two incredible pieces that are the latest and greatest in terms of innovation. I think you’ll appreciate the slightly thicker case and of course that hint of green.
Congratulations on the impending incoming !!

I’m guessing the Harrods edition may now be not quite as sought after taking in to account recent events!

I think the Harrod's looks great. The combo of green, gold, black, and cream on the face works very well. The big crown makes it a delight to wind, the bezel turns smoothly.... I really liked mine.
But -- and this is coming from someone with an 8.5" wrist that also owned a 136660 DSSD -- the Harrod's was too slab-sided and thick for me. I only owned it for a couple of months. The excellent aesthetics couldn't make up for the weight and height. The DSSD's bulk made more sense, given the requirements of its design. Plus, the Glidelock on that thing was like magic. I sold the DSSD, as well, but I miss it very much and will own one again. I don't find myself thinking much about the Harrod's. It really does look sharp, though. |

It sounds like you're in a tough spot, but you really can't go wrong here. The Black Bay 41 with a green bezel is a fantastic choice as a versatile, no-date diver, especially if you're drawn to Tudor and green accents. The Harrods edition adds that unique flair, and the fact that it's available at retail and pre-owned makes it even more tempting. Trust your gut—if the green dial speaks to you, it might be the one!

The Harrods green is a very unique green I haven’t seen on other watches. Thickness is not an issue.

Stupid question: If one could acquire the Harrods bezel insert, would it fit the new Monochrome?
Another reason the newer version is preferable, IMO, is the clasp. It has the T-fit. Didn't really see what all the hype was about. Then I got one. Now I get it. Personally, the biggest aesthetic advantage of the monochrome is the crown. I have never liked the larger Tudor crowns and much prefer the Rolex-style ones. All in all, I much prefer the monochrome to the Harrods in every way (but I also prefer its color scheme). |

I had no idea the crown was even different. Good point about the T-fit. I’ve never owned on so I don’t know what I am missing. |

I would go with the Monochrome. Isn't the Herrod's approaching the end of the run? I recall reading somewhere that they were counting down the stock and it wasn't being replaced. In any event, I would think Tudor would be ending the relationship going forward.
I'm not sure what would happen to the value of the Herrod's BB if the run is over. You would expect that if it ended, the value would go up, but now... who knows. I had one and sold it over a year ago. If I still had it, I couldn't keep it now. |

I prefer the newer piece, but aesthetics are 100% owner preference. Having a technically superior piece that you don’t like to look at solves not much. That and it’s not like the previous gen is a technical disaster either. No wrong answer on this one.

How about a used BB ETA? The original BB. Only 12.7 thick and the movement in mine is still keeping almost perfect time, with 300+ amp and zero beat error after 12 years with no service.

The Harrods with the green bezel. The monochrome is pretty drab.

The mono on the 5 link with the T-fit, the fit is amazing, the green is nice but not on the old bracelet and I don’t think it will be updated.
Whichever way you choose there is no bad choice. Cheers, |

The Mono with that bracelet is far better IMHO.

Like the green bezel insert. I think it has the same case size as my S & G, while thick, I have gotten so used to wearing it it’s not an issue for me. Even though all my other watches are thinner, I put it on and there’s really no adjustment time , just feels right.
I like the mono but it’s quite boring to me. |

I profoundly dislike, for having seen them in the metal, the protruding crown tube on all older black bays as well as faux rivets. The newer monochrome would be my choice, although a jubilee is not its natural bracelet IMO, the rubber is OK and the oyster style…well…has those unsightly rivets.
Why on earth can’t they just make it with a “normal”, Ranger kind of Oyster bracelet….

I would go Harrods. I have it and the 58 and although the 58 wears better in some ways, the Harrods has a few advantages:
1. Aesthetics - this is a personal thing but I love the green and gilt. 2. The wider bracelet is more comfortable and a less obvious step taper and the rivets (as a proportion of the bracelet size) are less obvious. The T fit clasp is overrated (had it on the Ranger bracelet on the 58 and the Pelagos 39). It's about half the length of a glidelock and there is not enough adjustment so I was always at one end of the other. 3. Unique features - the reversed depth rating, green tip of the second hand, green text and of course numbered engraving etc. 4. Future availability - there are only around 500 left in stock so they will be discontinued this year and in the future will probably be a collectible piece (not sure of value though). 5. Proportions - yes it is thicker but in terms of the dial layout I prefer the spacing of the markers. The new BB41 looks kind of 'squashed' to me with everything being a little too close together. 6. It is also possible to buy the 5 link 22mm bracelet (from the smooth bezel BB41) and it will fit the Harrods Hope that helps.

Personally I'd pick the monochrome all day every day. The Harrods does nothing form me and do you really want a watch collaboration with a shop associated with a sexual predator?

The green and esthetics of the Harrods are fantastic (scandal aside). The one drawback (to me) is the lack of adjustability of the bracelet. If you choose this, consider a SteelReef ez-link extension, or possibly picking up one of the Tudor BB five link T fit bracelet’s that *should* fit this BB case (as it does fit the BB GMT case). Best of both worlds there. Inconceivable that Rolex/Tudor renews an exclusive model like this Black Bay w/ Harrods at this point. Otherwise, I’d be choosing the mono w/ five link and t-fit as it’s hard to justify Tudor prices for a watch without some adjustability in the bracelet. And, the new crown and bezel of the mono are solid enhancements. Either way, good luck. |

My choice would be the Master Chronometer with the Jubilee Bracelet. Good luck.

I have owned them both and moved both on. The green is ok on the Harrods but not a daily like black is for me and the monochrome is just ok to me. Nice to have the adjustable clasp in the new Tudors but that is about it. My Submariner ND, 124060, covers a lot of ground and if I want green I have a Hulk. Rolex may not be an option but I would look elsewhere.
