They should sell him this watch, I think he can get it done, if not in a reasonable time frame (I’d say I month max) he should just buy one from someone else and save some money and tax.

This makes sense, maybe they have to show it for X amount of days. Maybe OP can ask to have that specific watch once that time has elapsed

An AD can't just cut one loose just because someone asked for it. He has to either have one to replace it or it's been on exhibition long enough. Not sure which one was in your case, but most certainly it's one of them.

And as you stated, he might have to wait a reasonable amount of time (you state a month max). This is exactly what I am saying as outlined above, in that it has to be on exhibition for some period of time. And I too believe he can get it done. He needs to make sure in no uncertain terms to the AD that he want's that watch as soon as they can release it.

Sorry to say they lied to you, all exhibition pieces will be sold eventually by the AD it is just a matter of when, some of these pieces are already allocated to they are sold in theory.

I have also tried the same with similar results. I always prefer the truth. Hopefully that was the case here, but it does seem a little fishy. I don’t expect that an AD owes an answer that placates, but I would prefer a “you weren’t the next on the list” at a minimum.

I have also appreciated time estimates understanding that they are +/-. So far the ADs I have worked with under promised and over delivered.

I have had the impression from your previous acquisitions that you have an excellent relationship with your AD/ADs, which is why I find this interaction curious. Maybe I’m reading too much into it.

Agreed. Been told the same.

Required to maintain a specific number or ratio of exhibition pieces. Not an option. Required.

How many are in the back? We’ll never know. 👍👍
