Sub ND or GMT GRNR

I’ve been contemplating between these two for a while, ultimately unable to choose. Both would be nice, but I prefer the GMT on an Oyster, plus the GRNR bezel is without question my favourite of the GMTs (with the green accents!), so they are arguably visually quite similar. Forgive the nature of the post please, but should you decide between the two, to go alongside an Exp1 36, Exp2 Polar and a Seamaster, which would you choose and why?

I'd go for a GMT because you've already got a good dive watch (assuming your Seamaster is the SMP).

I personally try to not have too many overlapping types of watches.

You’ve got the Ex1 for an everyday…do you want to double up on a GMT or diver?

Yes the Seamaster is an SMP green. So there may be some doubling up of diver or gmt agree, but felt the GMT may be the least overlapping of the two. However I like classics and the Sub ND is certainly one. The other Rolex option I’d thought of time to time was the DJ36 TT, again classic in style. Had otherwise narrowed it down to these two.

I think I’d get more versatility out of the GMT Master II so it would be my choice if I had to go for a one-watch from either of those options. I hope to add a BLNR to my OP36 in the near future… I think that will make an ideal one-two combo.

At retail the GMT. If buying in the secondary market the Submariner. I actually prefer my 124060 and 116610LV to my BLRO and BLNR as evidenced by wear.

If you’re asking ME, with a gun to my head, I would choose the Sub. You don’t want to do either of that. Buy what you want.

FWIW, neither would be my preference for each model line, and though I’ve owned your other watches, they are long gone, so we clearly have different – not vastly, but different nonetheless – tastes and you should listen to your heart.

For those who say they prefer different variants or none of the ones I listed, out of curiosity, what do you otherwise prefer? Makes no difference to what I like, just interesting to read.

GMT all the way. I own sub date and plethora of Omegas prior to that and never used the dive bezel. It's useless for timing anything as there's no audible like a iPhone or gshock to tell u when the timer is ended. I'm doing PADI certification and use my dive meter. No one in our training group wear any watches..

And the fact that getting a GMT2 at retail is a feat by itself. I've been wearing my Panerai gmt far more than my sub date as I work in healthcare and work with vendors in Denmark so having 2nd time zone at a glance is super handy.

I'm currently on the waitlist for the batman gmt. And most likely, once I get the gmt, I'll probably sell my sub date.

If on jubilee, then the GMT. Otherwise, I would go sub. The PCLs are absolute scratch magnets.

I’m more of a diver fan, but strangely I think I would go GMT in this one.

I have a GMT and a Sub and never noticed one being more comfortable than the other. But others also say the GMT is more comfortable, so maybe it’s just me.

Either way, I’d go for the Submariner in this case.

Thanks again for the opinions, generally agree, both are fantastic watches. If I was given only 5 seconds to choose, I'd probably choose the GMT. I'm quite aware that won't stop a calling for the Sub though. An alternative I've considered is the TT GRNR on Jubilee (126713GRNR), which can provide space for a Sub without such an obvious overlap. My reservation, as with most variants with YG/RG, is the additional attention of the wrong kind that they can fetch.

I own a sub 14060m 2-liner. I don't care for the green GMT hands or font. I much prefer the 5 digit series, but like this model's bezel.

Thanks again for all the responses. I've reconciled that I simply can't choose one over the other - and having both a Sub and GMT are the only illogical or logical answer :). As such, will first get the Sub (without date) and add a GMT from there, be it a GRNR, TT GRNR or BLNR. They're only watches, sure, but amazing how impossible this was to decide!
