Rolex RSCs no longer receiving watches delivered in person?

I just found this out today. My daughter lives about two miles from the Dallas RSC; I live in Houston. I gave her two watches safely boxed up with instructions for each. She called today to tell me that she can't deliver them due to the title of this thread. I'm 58 and getting more and more pissed off with the departure from human to human (or at least localized to this country) customer service. Every watch I've ever had serviced-I hand delivered and gave a summary to the lady at the Dallas RSC, what I wanted to happen-and what I did not. I know I can write it all down. It still isn't the same. I'm just not even close to happy.

What? Is it because they’re boxed? I just recently (well, last year) went into Dallas and hand delivered my pieces and they checked them in, etc.

Edit- yup they stopped in March apparently. That sucks!

If you don't have any luck, PM me. I'm also around Houston and have a great independent you can walk in to discuss your issue. He's done a handful of Rolex for me and a dozen for a friend. All with no issues. He also won't polish if you ask, just the light ultrasound cleaning.

I’m sure it’s been mentioned on the forum for a while that things had changed at Dallas in regards to dropping off watches

I called Dallas RSC last week and they said they stopped walk ins last March. New York RSC is the only one that accepts walk ins now. I was in Dallas last Monday and used the Fedex Ground to deliver my watch.

I called and they said that this went into effect in March of this year. The boxing had nothing to do with it. She was going to unbox with my instructions once there. In the past when I ask certain questions or ask if things can be done - the lady at the front desk could walk back to a watch repair tech and tell me immediately. No longer. While this isn't "offshoring" like DTV, Onstar, and Sirius/XM have done...that would be the next step...

Anybody have any info on why this was stopped? Was it a security concern?

Guessing it's due to crime/security/safety, but if so why would NYC RSC still allow walk-ins?

Never been to Dallas, but the NY service center has some security. You have to have your ID scanned and the door is locked and has to be opened for you.

Interestingly, you could book an appointment online at RSC for drop off in Singapore, Maylasia, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Does anyone know why RSC closed in California?

Stupid question but they just want you to trust the mailman to drop off your watch?

In that case, why don’t you just change the title of this thread?

Bummed about RSC Beverly Hills closing completely. Was so nice to go and wait for your watch.

More and more people will start using independents with this change. Not a good business plan IMO. I dont trust any shipper so it sours me a bit on Rolex.

Luckily Toronto RSC still lets you drop off in person

It would be nice if you could still drop the watch off in person. I could even see striking middle ground and requiring an appointment.

That's actually a very plausible idea! I can't imagine it being the least bit illegal however deceiving.

It looks like a lot of the US boutiques are also service centers. They can do service on most watches but they dont have the equipment to pressure test the sea-dwellers or deepsea pieces. For those pieces they send it out to the major RSCs.

I made a trip to one of my banks and later I got a message from them wanting to know why I just don't bank online. I too like the personal contact.

Same for Dallas. Lord knows that cesspool of a city up north isn't safer...

This policy, not surprisingly, existed during COVID. Now - there is no in person delivery under any circumstances... I have not cooled off having had a night to "sleep on it"...

So I mailed two watches into the Dallas RSC (which I loathed to do-as they've already screwed something up via this delivery method). As a result, I called them and they told me why they no longer take physical delivery of watches at this RSC. They are using the first floor space where they used to allow the public to deliver and receive watches as a school for watchmakers. Happy day.

I dunno. I’ve only had one RSC experience in many years of Rolex. When my BLRO started acting erratically I took it to my AD. They have a watchmaker on duty, he looked it over but because under warranty he sent it to Dallas. Got it back in four weeks and has worked great ever since.
Personally I have no problem with no direct customer contact. The RSC’s business is repairing watches, doesn’t need to have a storefront. Be it for security reasons, cost cutting, or whatever, I don’t need to see them in person.
PS: the AD local to me now has a watchmaker on duty, not sure what all he can do. If he can do full services in the future when I need one, I’ll give him a try.

Sign of the times. Haven't been to RSCNY in years but will have to go to see the changes. It's a shame about Dallas.

I submitted a watch, 124060, through my AD and it was sent to the Dallas RSC. It was losing time and getting worse. The watch came back and still failed the timing test as performed by my AD's Rolex trained Tech. Back to Dallas it went. Return estimated end of the month or first part of November. I am hoping they are being conservative on the timing and it will make it back a little sooner but you never know.
