Batgirl vs Sub vs DJ41
Hi all, hope everyone is well,
I know I love these type of comparison posts! But hear me out on the following if possible looking for opinions: Currently have a 2024 Batgirl, but I feel in todays world the GMT function is a bit obsolete, I never use it anyway, but was initially attracted to it as a blend of submariner and DJ in one. Considering the below options and welcome your thoughts, it would be a one and done watch, apart from my Apple Watch, which can be worn for rough stuff - Keep batgirl - change back to a submariner 41mm date - more of a classic look compared to GMT I feel less complication and potentially will stand test of time better than a GMT Batgirl - Submariner 41mm Kermit mk2 bezel, previously owned a mk1, but the mk2 is more of a unique bezel, not just lifted off the old hulk - Datejust 41mm mint green, jubilee and fluted bezel. More dressy, Apple Watch for most the time and DJ for the nicer times - Batgirl is neither really an out and out sports watch nor a dress watch I feel kind of sits in the middle I know I’ll get blasted in the comments for thinking of changing again etc but I just want to sort it for good and then maybe have some time off the forum! |

I have owned many including subs and datejusts. The BLNR on jubilee truly combines the two most popular Rolex into one watch. I tried to go back to just the black sub date but it was way too boring compared to the BLNR. I would keep and add the Sublv. I will probably get the LV again, I had them both and it is a fantastic duo. But don’t dare get rid of the BLNR, you will regret it as I did. It is the perfect watch.

I’d keep the Batgirl tbh I don’t see the point in switching it out as for me it’s a great reference

I have a BLNR, Sub Date and DJ41. The BLNR is newest so I’m wearing it a lot but I love it. I’m out the country just now and the GMT function has been great albeit I had to go into the local Rolex shop to get it set properly! I love my Sub Date too as an everyday watch. The one I will wear least will be the DJ41, beautiful watch but less me.
Edit: I had an Apple Watch but didn’t see the point. I use my phone if I need anything. Would much rather have a “real” watch on my wrist |

Batgirl vs Sub vs DJ41
I have all three. I’d never get rid of a GMT BLNR and replace it with a DJ. Not in a million years. To be clear, that doesn’t mean I dislike my DJ41. Quite the contrary, I love it.
But the Submariner is a different story altogether. If I could only have one watch, I’m not sure which one I would choose. Also, in terms of the GMT being neither a dress watch or a sport watch, I think you’re overthinking it. I wouldn’t worry about it. I swim with mine all the time. I wouldn’t hesitate wearing it with a suit either. One thing for sure, I do think the BLNR is more special than the Sub, FWIW. BTW, I have an Apple Watch, too. That’s what I wear when I’m bike riding and working out at the gym. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You say the GMT function is obsolete but are you planning on diving to 300m in the near future?
Any of the 3 can be a one and done. Don’t worry about the functionality just go with the one that you like the look of. I’d keep what you have if I was you. Then maybe look to add one of the others down the line. Or even get the oyster bracelet to go along with the jubilee.

The clear answer is that you need to ADD the Submariner

As a commercial airline pilot I am constantly using the GMT function like thousands of pilots have before me. The GMT combines best attributes of Sub and DJ in one watch. I do enjoy my Sub LV but the GMT is my all-time favorite watch.

For a one and done my choice would always be a Sub of some sort.
The Sub LV ticks all the boxes with the classic Sub look with a little color to keep things interesting. |

Well you can time things with a GMT watch, but you can't track multiple timezones with a diver. Stick with the BLNR
And I'll mail you a dollar if you stop calling it batgirl |
