As an additional data point I also got a 5712/1a as a second Patek (first was 5146r), also in the UK but this was back in 2022.

Might be a quirk of the local market, but if you simply went off what people say online they would believe this to be impossible.

Good point and one which isn’t really talked about. There is a bit of nuance in how allocations work from AD to AD, even from model to model.

My recollection is that many ADs get c.2 5712a per year (at least the ones I have spoken to) whereas the Salon get several times that, so I guess it’s also a case of knowing where to allocate your time and money.

Have you been offered any sports pieces from your AD?
Yes, 5167a, allocated to me as my 4th Patek 15 months ago. My first three were two Calatravas and an annual calendar. The 5712a is now top of my wish list, and I have pined for this watch since its release (I was a poor grad student at the time). Congrats again on the 5712 - huge win, and it goes so well with that marvelous 5205 you have (huge fan of the sculpted lugs on that annual calendar).

Amazing that this was your 2nd PP, very rare to see these days. You are a lucky guy. Congrats on a great reference! I'm still patiently waiting for my call and don't know when and if it'll happen. Turned down a 5726A in June as I wanted it on a bracelet.
