How long will I wait (Daytona dreams)
I’ve had a good relationship with my watch dealer dating back to 2017. Purchase history includes JLC x 2, Rolex x 3 (OP ‘17 for Dad, BLRO ‘22, Sub ‘23).
Visited the other day, and my sales rep of 2 years asked which watch I’d like next. I said I was happy with what I have unless al 126500 came up. He said leave it with him and asked colour preference, to which I replied the unconventional black dial. What do we think? Am I on track in the near-term? Years out? I’d be keen to get one, but realize it is still a good chunk of $ even at retail! |

I’d venture a guess and say by June of next year.

Sounds like a very positive visit to the AD and looks like your chances are very good and you never know it may be here sooner than you think.
Cheers, |

You were smart to ask for black. I think you are close. The white you would need more spend imo. I prefer the black too.

I think, given the recent market and incomings, you’ll get one in the next 6 months. If you’re really lucky, it may possibly arrive by Xmas.

If my SA told me to "leave it with him" I'd be pretty optimistic.

I consulted the oracle and the oracle said:
"The hands of time move as they will, slow as the tide shaping the shore. In four cycles of the sun, your desire may meet its mark—if patience holds, the metal shall find your wrist." |

I had more purchase history than that, a 5+ year relationship, just asked about Tiffany and Daytona. 5-10 years
Insane. I went grey. Your dealer seems to be alluding towards you getting one though. I’d be optimistic |

First question might be how big is your AD, US Rolex only Boutiques might get 30 SS Daytonas in a year while a smaller one 10 or less. And of course every AD has its own path to one.
At my AD, if you’re told you’re “on the list” you will get a Daytona. Spend may be a factor but ultimately it’s “the relationship” and it sounds like you’re in good there. Asking for black should be quicker too. My AD didn’t have different rules for dial color but more people were asking for white so longer wait. I was told in 2019 I would get my black 116500 within a year, got it in nine months. |

At a family AD my way to a Steel Black daytona this year was like this in this ordrer and no other buys of anything.
126710BLNR Daytona G/S White Deepsea D-Blue Submariner 124060 Daytona G/S Black Tudor Pelagos FXD Submariner Date 126610LV GMT Sprite And finally 126500 Black. It’s all about relationship. |

It may appear to you that your Daytona is nearer but your SA only said that to you as you are about to buy some overpriced jewellery that you are unaware of , thinking it will make that Daytona a step closer. Great sales tactic

Purchase history since 2017 but a sales rep relationship of only 2 years.
How many of those watches were purchased from that SA? Are you in the, "I will not pay over retail!" gang? Have you considered buying grey now and selling if you SA comes through? Your SA sounds like a nice chap, but you need to talk to the manager/owner. |

Your wait could be months or years. The only person that knows for sure is your sales assistant

I’ve been on the list for a Daytona for ages and spent just as long trying to work out when I would get one.
I finally came up with this simple equation. Years left to wait = Number of years left to live + 1. As I’m in my 70s this probably works for me.

Good luck! Hopefully your SA comes through. My local AD is a large AD and they get Daytonas monthly. A purchase history of other Rolex watches, especially SS sport models counts for nothing. My chance of getting a SS Daytona (at MSRP) with your purchase history is never with them!

I've been waiting 10 years at my local dealer, have probably spent $50-75k there including jewelry and 5 others Rolex's. Went into a dealer and make an introduction about 2.5hrs from my house a few weeks ago, 3 weeks later they called and had a Daytona for me. So it's really hit or miss.

It’s nothing to do with the ‘relationship’ as that doesn’t really exist . It’s about how much you’ve spent

There’s so many factors.
Spend, demand in your geo area, your personality, your sales rep (their turn from the AD to get a Daytona versus another, relationship with that SA and “luck.” On average, the average Joe and Jane Doe who get on a list at an AD will never get a call. If you’re a good customer, maybe a few years if you live in a small-medium town and have a good relationship with the AD. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
