Grand Seiko heritage 62GS, purple dial SBGH337, I got the last one!

I mean, you could just pick one up used, but let's celebrate a bit as this will be a birthday watch and my first Grand Seiko (if the Credor doesn't count!)!!!

Looking forward to this as lavender is my jam. It's a little ridiculous but awesome at the same time.

Does anyone have an opinion on the high beat movement?

Very interesting dial.

Regarding the high beat movement: it is an innovative and interesting movement. Quite similar to what Rolex has been doing in terms of manufacturing technology (in watches like the new Chronenergy 126xxx Daytonas) using LIGA lithography to form the escape wheel and pallet fork. Also the escapement uses a non-traditional asymmetrical pallet fork designed to minimise sliding friction instead introducing more of a rolling movement.

So in theory more consistent and longer service intervals. In practice, not so sure it makes any difference to service intervals. But the tech is very cool.

GS Movements and finishing are top notch!
Their only hurdle imho, like many watch manufacturers is the thickness.
Patek is making an aquanaut at 8mm thick while the typical GS are ~13mm comparable to a rolex sports model.

For sure, these are a bit thick. 13mm is the absolute limit for me in terms of wearability.

I guess there are a ton of LEs with this case and either a spring drive or this high beat movement, but I mean just for this iteration. So yeah, the green dial is nice as well and middle dial has interesting blue accents to go with the more sober dial.

Congratulations. Very nice. I have seen them at the AD.

I have had good luck with my GS high beats. They all seem run +3 seconds per day for me.

The thickness of GS watches doesn’t bother me and my wrist is small.

My only problem now with GS is the MSRP.
