Here is the correct box. It is referred to as the moonscape or crater box with a slotted card to hold the watch in place. The boxes below are for an early 1980s GMT 16750 and 16800 Submariner which utilized the same box. As a footnote, some of these boxes contained a small opening on the upper box lid that held a passport holder. This box is for watches sold outside the USA.

Springers given a good answer as ever. There are others (as dealers had a room full of old boxes often, so they just grabbed closest one !), eg like the green atlas and bufkor (USA), or old stock late 70s cream/green.... but that box he showed had most prevalence up to 1994, I'd say ...

Forget the box number, the style of the box correctly identifies the box you need.

I've posted photos for you in an earlier post.

While we're on the topic, I'm curious if this box could be original to my 16800 I bought used. I didn't place much value on the box when I got it, but it would be good to know if it's original/ period correct. Thanks in advance.

bchamp62, the last box you posted is not correct for a watch sold outside the USA.

It is a 1st generation Bufkor box utilized in the USA during the later part of the 1970s and sometimes overlaps in the production years with the 2nd generation Bufkor box from 1980-1981.

It wasn't used in outside the USA.

Refer back to my first post depicting the correct box for your watch!!!
