Purchasing authenticating and Servicing a watch with a few months left on warranty.
I am looking at a few 2019 watches that have a few months left on warranty for purchase. I was wondering if I brought the watch into Rolex with one month left on the warranty and told them I was concerned it was losing too much time daily or I thought I heard something loose on the inside, would I be able to get a thorough free inspection in the last month of the warranty (as well as a confirmation that the watch was authentic when they take it in)? My thought they would take the watch, open it look at it and tell me everything was fine and they could not find anything or find something and fix it under the warranty. I would also get confirmation that it was authentic. For me, its a win win. I get a watch inspection, free repair if needed and authentication. WHy don't people do this? How does Rolex discourage this?

That is why I am asking. So, if I were to ask for the watch to be regulated, they would make sure it is keeping accurate time. And in doing the regulation, would they be de facto confirming that the watch is authentic? I assume they would notify me if it were not.

If you buy from a trusted reseller on here you shouldn’t need to worry about authentication. It depends on where you are looking to buy I guess

I've had quite a lot of watches regulated at the RSC here in Hong Kong. Some of them even out of warranty, and always complimentary (though not for a few years now). A full regulation takes a few days (it's the most time-consuming part of a full service) and while they might not take the back off, they shouldn't need to in order to confirm authenticity, or that the watch was or wasn't stolen (they also checked that when I took a watch in for the first time with no papers).

Albeit perhaps not considered ethical by some, hypothetically, yes you could do this.
It wouldn’t be worth my time to do this though, as if you’re *that* concerned about authenticity on these purchases you should steer clear anyways.

If you were in business, would you wish to be dealt with the way you suggest?
