If you have to pick one to keep!

As the title said “if you have to pick one watch to keep”. I am planning to sell off my small collection included some Omega and Cartier but really torn of which Rolex to keep as one watch forever.

I´m sure most here will say keep one of the GMTs, so I´m going out on a limb here by saying keep the Submariner! The GMTs are lovely watches, but I have no use for the GMT function, nor do I have a need for the SkyDweller´s complicatons. But I do need the Submariner´s timing bezel, and mine is used several times a day! And without a date window the dial has perfect symmetry. That´s what I like!

If you are only keeping one, it has to be a Sub or Daytona.

Pepsi or Daytona. Pepsi if you want an easy to read straight to the point timepiece. I would have a hard time picking from those 2. I couldn’t decide myself so got myself a Navitimer 01 for now and a Pepsi :-)

I'm BLRO bias since it's my newest watch, but tbh if you're gonna own just one, it's the Sub.

Either GMT would be my choice and specifically the BLNR. I find the date complication useful with the cyclops being part of the Rolex DNA and I also like the pop of colour over say a Sub date (I recognise that you have the almost as iconic ND!).

Good luck making your decision

BLNR because most versatile watch with a little more pop than the Submariner. BLRO if you want to keep the more expensive GMT. If you had a ceramic bezel 116500 daytona i'd say keep that one but I prefer the ceramic bezel watches for longer term keeping / daily use.

I would recommend narrowing the collection down one watch at a time until I reached an impasse, then re-ask the question. In that case my final three preference would be the Sub ND, Daytona, and Pepsi BLRO. From there it gets super tough, IMO.

Sub and Daytona. Going from 5 to 1 is against the rules here!

For me, it would be the BLNR, but that's because I own one & I always say that if I had to get rid of all my watches & keep only one, it would be the BLNR.

I can't believe I'm going to say this because the Sub and Pepsi are probably my two favorite watches. But if you're going down to one Rolex I think I'd keep the BLNR out of this group.

I'd want a date function as a one and only and I also think the blue/black bezel work better a daily over the red/blue.

I think you’d get bored if you only keep the Sub.

Also, keep in mind, that Sub would be the easiest to reacquire amongst your collection if you change your mind.

Sub has always been THE watch for me. Mine is a 126610 because I do like having a date, but regardless, the Sub is such a classic and I love it. It gets my vote.

GMT is also a great choice for those who like them. I'm not a GMT fan, just don't use GMT functionality and prefer the divers timing bezel functionality for my use, but there is no denying it's a truly classic watch.

So, I think it should come down to the Sub or one of the GMTs....just depends on which one of those three makes you the most happy when you wear it.
