Mr. Stern once spoke of being tempted to do a Reverso-type watch.
May be that was what he had in mind with this new line. It's natural to take a rectangular form if it were to have hinges of some sort. |

It would be difficult to beat the Reverso at its own game! Great watches!
As for the idea Patek are so unimaginative they would copy the Nautilus face design, dream on! |

@Gamut, I think their aim is to follow the sporty route, like how lifestyle has evolved nowadays but Patek had a Reverso model in their catalogue in the 1930's (I read 8 pieces were produced).
