But this is what I'm asking. At least with today's PCC depreciation from retail, even getting an incredibly hyped piece like a 5990 1A may not make up in a single transaction.

Advice on path to Patek perpetual chronograph
Bought a 5270j new from AD w big discount- about 135 w tax. My dad also got a platinum perpetual in line with a big discount. Have gotten some great allocations ever since. Very hot watches- ie: 5968. Would not have bought either of those perps at full retail plus tax- would have gone grey- and that’s what I said when I bought them.
It definitely depends on what market your in- my local AD would not have given any discount… I don’t think I could stomach buying a watch that’s down in value that much just to get the chance to buy another watch at retail price. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Since you’re in Singapore it seems like a big risk to expect any hot models after one PCC purchase. I do hope someone corrects me if I’m wrong though.

You should really PM Michael (Ichiran) about the local Singapore scene. He’s bought a LOT more from local Patek AD, and still doesn’t get everything he wants in a timely fashion. He would steer you right, I’m sure.
