RSC NYC or AD Service Center?
I have a local AD that is a Rolex service center, but I'll also be heading to NYC in a few weeks (quick train ride from Philly).
If you had the choice, would it be better to drop off a watch for service at the RSC in NY or just go to the AD service center? |

RSC, no doubt. I was just in NYC a few weeks ago and had a very pleasant experience at the RSC there.

I don’t believe anything is wrong! It may be running a tad fast though.
But it’s a 16710 GMT from 2001 that was recently acquired so figure if there’s a time to do a service it’s now, especially having an upcoming trip to NYC. Thanks for the replies, looks like RSC in NY it is! |

The RSC in NY only does warranty repairs now..
Dallas does all other service.. The service on my DSSD a few weeks ago from Dallas was perfect, and I received the watch back in ~11 days... . . |

I am going to go the other direction and say you’re AD for service. I took my watch to my local AD (RSC) for a full service and it was a great experience. I was able to actually speak to the individual who worked on my watch when I picked it up.

When an AD (RSC) performs a full service on the watch, is a 2-year factory service warranty issued by the AD or Rolex?

I would choose to drop it off in NYC but call them first before you take that short train ride.

If RSC NYC only does warranties, may have to go the AD route. |

There's no such thing as AD RSC. There are some RSC across the globe and ADs who are authorised by Rolex to service the watches. The 2 year warranty you receive from an AD authorised by Rolex to service your watch is the same with the one from a RSC.

If you go to Rolex's website, you can choose to search for Rolex Service Centers (including those that sell and only do service) or a Rolex Jeweler (which can be authorized to sell Rolex watches AND do the service). https://www.rolex.com/en-us/watch-ca...r/unitedstates I know for the most part it is semantics, but my earlier comment about AD RSCs is correct. |

Well, I just brought in my almost 40 year old DJ to RSC in NYC for a full servicing (mainspring snapped) - non-warranty - & had a first class experience. Was like the waiting room of a high end cosmetic surgeon’s office. Picked up the watch just over 2 weeks later.
For warranty service I’ve typically gone back to the AD & let them send it to Rolex if required, but for out-of-warranty/vintage pieces I’ve typically brought right in or sent to RSC myself.

My AD can do Rolex Service as they have a trained Rolex Technician and a parts account. But they will not work on watches that are under warranty, back to the RSC. Not sure why but I assume it is a situation that only Rolex wants to do this work. I would have preferred if the AD had done did the service on my 124060, losing significant time. But it went to the RSC and came back and was still significantly off as quality controlled check by the AD's Tech, so back to the RSC.

Rolex allows ADs to do warranty repairs, but we don't get paid for them. I'd rather spend the time and energy on a paid service and let Rolex handle their own mistakes. If it's something simple, like a regulation or a fleck on the dial, I don't mind fixing it. My shop used to do all of the 32xx warranty services, but we've more or less stopped due to other demands.

Dropped off my 2009 DJII here in NYC. Setting time and date was not "smooth" as in the hands were skipping and felt like something wasn't "catching" recommended full service quote is for $800 said it should be back in a couple of weeks. Feels about right
