I know this for a fact because my brothers stolen ROlex was returned to him more than 10 years after it was stolen when the buyer who bought it from his trusted dealer tried to have it serviced and rolex would not return the watch to the buyer since it was in their database (my brother reported it stolen to ROlex and police). Eventually, the watch was returned to my brother and the trusted dealer refunded the purchase price of 10 years ago (not the value now) to the buyer . THe buyer got lucky because his trusted dealer was still around 10 years later and stood behind it. I don't want to rely that one of the trusted dealers here will be available to refund the $ to me in 10 years. I want to verify it with ROlex now. The only way that I am aware it can be done is if is serviced.

You keep making a compelling case for buying new from an AD.
