Cool watch. Before and now. I do like it on the NATO.

I’ve often thought about doing this to my 5 digit Sub date, but I’ve never thought about the position of the date window before.

I think your watch looks good, well done.

OP - watch looks great and well done!!
Glad it worked out without issues.

I personally like the Sea Dwelleresque, non-cyclops date.

Enjoy!

Very interesting that you would attempt this and glad it worked out for you, but the result is not for me.

I second this lol. Looks cool but no chance I’d try it myself. Good for you!

If you still have this watch when you are a bit older, trust me you will miss that cyclops…

My eyesight in the last two years has deteriorated to where the little numbers on a date window are too darn small. I miss having a cyclops and think I might actually need to make my way back to either a Rolex with cyclops or a no-date watch. Getting old(er) and all that.

Not the content I was expecting with the caption- razor & a ball peen hammer!
Most decidedly, a lack of mayhem.
Nice job and a cool look

I like the cyclops. I’d hate to see what you’d get if selling it sans cyclops.

Living with the mod for a few days, I am very happy.

Yes the date is off center but it is off center with or without the cyclops.
Yes the date can be a bit harder to read but when the glare hits through the cyclops it is impossible to read.

I have been a long time source for my friends to adjust their bracelets.

Looks like I’ll be adding a cyclops removal service:).

Let me know if I can assist you.

I personally like it better stock. Save the magnifier. You can re-attach it with a bit of UV glue if you decide to.

Congrats on the Cyclopsectomy! With the cigar box resting on your lap I think you were lucky to have removed only the magnifier and nothing else! When I wanted the Cyclops off my Sub I just went out and bought a SeaDweller. (I guess I could have saved some cash! - lol)

Oh, and I think that Exp II looks great without the Cyclops!

The thought occurred to me later

Mostly the older cyclops has no AR coating and I have found it nearly impossible to read the date in all but the most optimum lighting conditions.

I have actually fiddled with this a bit in the past with different tools without success.

Today I decided to give it one more try.

One light tap is all it took. No heat, no drama just one light tap on the back of the razor blade that was positioned flush to the crystal against the cyclops. Razor positioned from the 9 o'clock side with the watch supported with the 3 o’clock (crown side) side down. I used a sturdy wooden cigar box resting on my lap. Held the watch and razor in place with my fingers.

The whole thing was very casual :)
You are truly a brave man. Well done, sir
