Not for me. I think it looks ridiculous. A real statement piece. But what is the statement?

Statement is that you've got the biggest, baddest, gold Rolex made, imho.

I was thinking the same thing. If I jump in the water with that thing on it may drag me down to the bottom.

I really start to like it. Looks so different compared to my DSSD JC.

^^^I adore the yellow 18K Sub. It will probably be THE watch that pulls me back to a full pm Rolex. I have become weight sensitive with my watches and is probably the only reason holding me back if I could wear one comfortably.

Absolutely. If I could afford it, I'd have my name down for one.

So what's the minimum wrist size for this piece? 7.5?

It depends what you are comfortable with. I think a flat 7” wrist is fine. Lug to lug still smaller than your wrist and the dial itself looks similar to the standard sub. The increase looks like it is mainly the bezel. It’s a big watch and wears big. You don’t need to be large so it wears like a sub. Or maybe that’s me trying to justify it. The blue dial is amazing.

Agreed, but I personally wish Rolex would use a bezel-matching flat blue for the dial (like on the DS) instead of the sunburst on the Sub.

I’m not educated enough on these two to know that so good info

Well I’ll be….

When this was first released, I thought it was ridiculous. A pure flex reference for dudes needing to attract as much as possible.

But,

These pics tell a different story. It appears to be much more wearable that I thought. I’d still buy a gold Sub if it were my money, but my opinion of this piece is changing.

Yes and No

Short answer is yes and no.....interesting story...

Flight plan was to first fly from Saudi to Bahrain, use the 5hr transit to pick up the Gold Deepsea from the Bahrain AD and then take a connecting flight to Karachi from Bahrain to pick up the GRNR from the AD there....yes I'm a little crazy but we are talking less than $500 for tickets and the flight times are 50 mins to Bahrain and then 2 hrs to Karachi so not too bad....

Landed in Bahrain, got to the AD, put the watch on, paid for it and had it resized, when it came back from the resizing I noticed a horrible scratch on one link and some hairline scratches on another.....not sure if this was there before or after the resizing....AD was highly apologetic and gave me some options, 1. Give me a day and I will have the links professionally polished....2. keep the money with them as another watch on my list was due soon, 3. take a refund....as I had a good relationship with the AD went with 2 as I felt uneasy about accepting a new watch that needed any polishing.....3 weeks later used the funds for my WG Daydate Meteorite.....2 days later an American fellow saw the scratch and they fixed it for him and he bought it at the discounted price...we now joke about the 'scratch'....

Flew on to Pakistan and picked up the GRNR....not been tempted to pick up a Deepsea since, see it as a sign

Had the chance to try it on, it is seriously heavy… Nevertheless, the matte dial and blue / YG combo does look awesome. If you are a larger guy with big wrist you can definitely pull it off. However, not exactly understated or fir for office use…
