New Warranty Cards - Printed Date w/ Asterisk?

Has anybody seen the date printed like below (pulled from the internet, only other example I could find)? My buddy is in the midst of purchasing a watch from another individual, but the card looks like this. The watch checks out and everything looks legit, only this part which I didn't have a clue either. Does this asterisk denote something? or just a chain of ADs who print the date like this? Anybody have an idea?

No.
Mine was hand written in pen by the AD upon date of purchase.

Only way of knowing is to ask the orginal buyer or that AD store.

Agreed. All of mine have been handwritten.

Yeah smaller ADs hand write, a lot of big name Rolex chains and Rolex boutiques themselves print them though. However, I’ve never seen one printed *with* the asterisk.

Mine has a handwritten date. BUT, the date is supposed to be written as shown above — date.month.year — and my AD wrote the date the typical American way as month.date.year. Since the date was the 22nd of the month, I don’t think it would be confused, though.

Handwritten seems to be the norm.

I just checked my BLRO and the new style warranty card has a handwritten date.

I can't imagine the response I would have if I had an asterisk on my card and tried to ship for service from local AD. Ben Bridge demanded purchase receipt before they would ship a watch under warranty back to RSC even with card in hand.

I obviously politely left and shipped it myself.

Mine was from a small, now defunct AD and was hand-written in Euro/rest of world date format.

I have two watches with that style warranty card. One is handwritten and the other is typeset. The typeset one has no asterisk. Maybe it's just something that AD does. Possibly an accidental stroke of a key? Not sure what type of printer with what type of keyboard would be used for such things.

Yeah this is what has my buddy slightly put off. He’s just wanting to make sure the asterisk doesn’t denote some weird sale or stipulation that was put on the watch. It’s different for sure!
