New to me silver quadrant dial, searched for this particular reference for a couple of years until finding the right one at the right price. Absolutely love it! Goes with everything from dress to casual, and works with any color clothing. Yes, some may say it’s too monochromatic, but that’s exactly what I wanted and I couldn’t be happier. If you’re on the fence, go for it, you won’t regret it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks for the thoughts and pictures everyone. I pulled the trigger on blue romans from a trusted seller. Will update with pictures once I have it.

Boy was I wrong about the romans. Just received my watch from Takuya. The romans really set off the watch and the blue dial is fantastic. Pics to come. Shout out to Takuya for a great buying experience. Thank you all for your thoughts and pictures.

Segmented Romans on the 40 make it a totally unique watch in the Rolex catalog. I couldn't choose anything else.

Older gens I’m firmly in the stick-camp. For the DD40 I prefer [deconstructed] Roman > Stick. The latter makes the dial look a tad too empty for me.

Romans looks best on the 40. A lot of real estate on the dial with the sticks.

I would say batons fly just a little more under the radar than romans. Slate is a really nice versatile color, where as blue is a little more striking. Based on your post I think slate/sticks may work best for you. Here is my slate baton DJ41 if it helps.
