Not many 1908 threads...
I have been looking for threads on people who own 1908s and not seen much. Anyone actually have one...? Thoughts?

I have one. Great dress watch without being flashy. I can wear it and know I have something special on without anyone really noticing.

I don't own one but had some time with the platinum 1908 a while ago and it is stunning.

I like the watch but with so many other options for dress strap watch from other companies that do it better, I would not consider a purchase. I get product diversity within a lineup but Rolex is out of its lane here and the sales reflect that as well as the incoming watches for members.

It is a great dress watch, but Rolex fans are more into the Oyster lines and traditionally look elsewhere for their dress watch needs.

While I find them to be VERY attractive, I just dont think Rolex can conquer this market. Its like an afterthought for Rolex. Very few options vs brands like PP, AP, VC, H Moser, and the list goes on and on...

If I wanted a watch like that I'd be casting the net a lot wider. PP would be my prospective favourite candidate if I wanted to go there.

I haven’t seen one yet, but I’d be in the market for the platinum one

Totally agree 1908 in Platinum is wonderful. Only thing.. I would replace the strap the same day I picked it up. It feels terrible.

I'm not much of a dress watch guy, BUT I have to say that's stunning.

That platinum is beautiful.
But as others have said, for the amount of times I wear a dress watch I'd probably go with something else. Right now my dress watch is a Longines Conquest Heritage, but if I were to be in the market for something new, I'd probably be looking at JLC |

There’s no denying the platinum reference is a beauty
I’m just not a dress watch kind of guy, so I’d get very little use out of one |

I don’t think many people actually own them. Never seen one in the wild before.

However after trying all 3 variants on at my AD, I decided to go with a PP. I rarely wear dress watches, but I felt the need to have one in my collection and I’ve always admired PP so I passed on the 1908… |

My take is if you have 27k on a dress watch, you buy something more legit. If you have 27k on a Rolex, you just get the 126655 YM Oysterflex.
