Surprised Rolex's in Paris

My wife and I travel the world frequently and out of curiosity I am always checking out the Rolex stores that I might happen upon. I have never found any Rolex watches available for sale until a couple of weeks ago while in Paris. The Rolex store at the Place Vendome offered me 1. Submariner yellow gold black bezel, oyster 2. Skydweller in white gold with black band, and 3. Skydweller in white gold Rolesor. I did not purchase either of them as they are not on my want list. I was, however, very surprised to find watches in a Rolex store that were available for immediate sale.

Was at the same Paris AD in Feb2024 and was able to buy a DateJust 41 Wimbledon as walk in...right time right place.

PM pieces are now showing up at ADs....saw several in the Toronto Yorkville area Bloor St. AD last month.

Was in Paris in March and was offered a Bluesy and James Cameron. Went with the James Cameron. With the exchange rate and VAT return, it was great.

Royal de Versailles I presume. The market here in Canada is definitely getting easier.

You see it everywhere nowadays in Europe. Not the sought after SS models, like sub or gmt but everything else is possible.

These pieces are available in most European locations, you didn’t want to buy them like most people… this is why they are easily available

How far will the receding tide go. Will we see available sports steel in the windows?

I'm surprised to see sports models offered to foreign visitors. My experience when living in and traveling to and from Spain was that sports models were never offered to those who didn't live in the country. Told to me by multiple AD's who I had made purchases with while living within Spain and later visiting while living in the US. This was before 2022, however. Times must be changing.

Any AD in the world loves to sell $40K watches. If they don’t have a client waiting for that model it’s out to the case.

Nobody buys Rolex in Paris anymore due to robberies. Half jk

Things are definitely getting easier on the buy side

I was at Bucherer in Interlaken a few weeks ago and was offered a 126718GRNR. No SS sport models though. They probably sell 99% of their watches to tourists from Asia or the Middle East, so it is definitely not restricted to locals.

Most ADs I've been to recently (in the US) have PM references like those or similar available for purchase.

The watches you’ve seen are not and have never really been in high demand. Nobody wants them hence they are still for sale. Also if you did want one you’d be able to buy from the gray market at below retail

They had gold sub and a couple white gold Skydwellers on OF in Zurich a couple weeks ago. Airport also had a gold sub. Geneva had a two tone YM. Nothing I was looking for, but nice to see a couple in stock even if not high demand pieces.
